Let The Music Play or NOT !

Whilst disappointing, I hope that this change is accompanied by the following: - on every flight that radio or CDs are no longer available on, every seat has a charging socket for your device. I have caught some flights recently where this was not the case. - when the plane lands, to further...

Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

27 Dec Y->J points upgrade confirmed at the gate for SYD-SCL!!! However LATAM has managed to screw up the rest of the trip: - sending my luggage to a different airport in South America to the one I flew to and taking 3 days to reunite me with it - currently stranding 200+ passengers at AKL on...

No more inflight duty free with QF after 31 Dec 2017

Good. One less annoying announcement interrupting the inflight entertainment on every international flight.

Qantas Money App - 300 points for logging in

I don't believe you have to connect any accounts to earn the 300 frequent flyer points. I definitely haven't and when they post, the app will be deleted. If nothing posts, it will be deleted eventually as well. However it's probably not targeting savvy frequent flyers, no doubt this email...

QF now charging WP for all Exit Row economy seats [CL/WP1 exempt]

After the recent run-up in the Qantas share price, QF management must be running around looking for revenue boosters to help justify the valuation.

VA Points / SC Credits - Anyone notice how slow it has become recently

Re: Posting of points Maybe VA are running short of cash and using this as one way of conserving cash: - now that Velocity is a separate company with a minority shareholder, it's bank account is separate from Virgin's - Virgin has to pay Velocity for the points - by delaying posting, Virgin...

QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

Fully aware of big data, I work in big data. It's not about staying off the grid, for me it's about minimising the amount of data QF have about me to drive dynamic pricing of the fares I book with them. They can work out how much I spend on other credit cards but not on what, or how much I spend...

QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

In summary, a collection of features and earn rate which you can broadly replicate for a lower annual fee with a fee-free Amex Discovery card and a companion MC/Visa that has travel insurance for places that don't accept Amex, but you pay a higher annual fee to provide QF with all the details of...

QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

A real surprise would be an annual retention bonus. The sign-up bonuses the banks offer just encourage credit card churn.

QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

I highly doubt that. QF loves charging their additional fees for the privilege of earning those 'valuable' QFF points. After all, on many bank issued credit cards, you're charged an annual 'opt-in' fee to convert from the regular rewards program to a direct QFF sweep.

    CX pricing and availability

I'm looking at a trip to Europe later in the year and want to look at CX pricing. However the online booking sites rarely show CX and then at extortionate prices, going directly to the CX website yields prices in Economy of between $12,000 and $15,000 for every day to a range of destinations...

QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

I'm sure they're running a fairly tight ship in advance of the launch. Probably busy coming up with marketing spin for the launch... "A simpler and fairer way to spend..." "Enhance your earn..."

If they offer no foreign exchange fees on international transactions, it might worth looking into.

HELP: Need 5 Qantas Status Credits

Another option is on the night of the 31st, fly somewhere for 10 SC, overnight, then on the morning of the 1st fly back. The 10SC will start your tally for requalification in your next member year.

    Citi cards - major changes

If you're a merchant and, after materials, labour, overheads, GST etc., your profit margin is only say 15%, you may be fine to give up 5% of your profit (the 0.8% merchant fee) to accept payment with cards pretty much everyone with a credit card has, but you may balk at paying 12% (1.8%...

    Citi cards - major changes

I definitely share the sentiments of others towards Citibank - I have experienced them in three different countries around the world and they couldn't punch their way out of a wet paper bag. However, I'm not cancelling my fee-free-for-life Signature because: - It's fee free - It gets me two...

QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

This! I will be very wary of any QF issued credit card because they have openly stated that dynamic pricing for their members is the strategy they are heading... That's where the profits are -...

    Qantas survey -leaving Oneworld?

I'm not sure how anyone could have drawn a conclusion from the survey that QF might be leaving OW. The question would have been asked because they want a sense whether you fly other OW airlines but credit those flights to AAdvantage, Executive Club, Enrich, Asia Miles etc. My sense is that...

Westpac reduces points on credit card spend

I have a few fee free cards which earn me between 0.5-1.0 Velocity per $ and 1 QFF per $ (not to mention complimentary travel insurance and a couple of lounge visits). I'll let my 100,000 bonus from Altitude Black post and then I will cancel. I see no point anymore holding any of these cards...
