    Qantas First Class menus

No issues on any of the sectors, seatbelt sign didn't come on between takeoff and landing. Chatted to the pilots on the flight deck after we landed in Singapore, they mentioned they'd had to avoid a fair bit of weather on the way in which lost us about 20 minutes, but as a passenger I hadn't...

    Qantas First Class menus

No menu loaded for SIN-SYD either. Even the wine list which I’d kept in my seat pocket from the previous sector had disappeared. Apparently there’s a new menu starting on this route in the next couple of weeks and that caused some kind of mix-up.

QF Award booking on EK downgrade F to J - Advice please

If you’re into steak, Miller & Carter is fantastic. For something different, Bundobust is a vegetarian Indian restaurant inside a craft brewery outlet. A million different beer options and the sharing menu is pretty good even for a meat eater.

    Qantas First Class menus

Wine list QF2 LHR-SIN. No menu as they didn’t load any on the flight. Had a lamb on pita entree and steamed cod with Neil’s magic salad for main.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Brilliant! It’s amazing how much better their offering is compared to what Qantas pretends is appropriate for their First on the same route.

    The view from my "office"

Went for a pleasant walk in the Welsh countryside yesterday… But the serenity kept being disturbed by these bloody obnoxious drivers in their yank tanks hurtling past at well more than the 60mph limit… (Mach Loop low flight test area in Northern Wales)

    Qantas First Class menus

There wasn’t a new wine list provided for SIN-LHR, but they had the same Penfolds RWT and Singleton scotch so I assume the menu was identical. The Lark whiskey wasn’t available on either sector.

    Qantas First Class menus

I’m not a big breakfast eater so only had the Bircher muesli, which was served in a shot glass so not really what I’d expected as a bowl of cereal. Coffee was nice enough though and at 4:30am that’s probably the most important for me.

    Qantas First Class menus

The duck noodles from SIN were my favourite, followed by the beef out of SYD. And yes, the ice cream sandwich was pretty cheaply served given the context.

If you can wait a few days I’m on QF1 at the end of the week, happy to grab some photos of the menus for you.

    Qantas First Class menus

Have been flying F with mine (now 15 and 10) since our eldest was 6 months. Unless they have allergies you need to cater for I’d stick with the standard menus. Plenty of choices so that most people (even kids) can find something to eat. Things like the fish are usually easy to separate from the...

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Mine usually shows the same, it’s what happens when you qualify for WP based on OneWorld partner flights rather than Qantas metal.

What was your most memorable in-flight meal?

I've shared the story before, but most memorable for me was on a QF F flight back when they not only flew the 747 but came around with a selection of movies on cassette tape to play in your personal tape player. An older gentleman was sitting in 1A, dressed immaculately in business attire. 3...

    QF A380 F seat advice

Not really any bad seats but everyone has their preferences. If you want to both have window seats I’d suggest K not A, as the F seats face the A seats and when the dividers are down for takeoff and landing you don’t have as much privacy when sitting in A. I always liked 4A 5A when travelling...

    QF A380 F seat advice

Fully agree with the K+F suggestion. We’ve done 4A / 5A with a 6 month old, the bassinet was pointless so we didn’t bother with that selection again. We ended up spending most of the waking hours of the flight sitting together in one suite so proximity wasn’t a huge issue. Do keep in mind...

The Private room/1st class lounge: Whats your perfect design?

I know this is a "can never please everyone" scenario but one of the reasons I like TPR is that it's the opposite of the Sydney QF F lounge in being quiet and not packed to the gills. There's no queue for a seat at the dining section, nobody telling you to move on and work elsewhere if you...

    Last QantasLink 717 service

Not sure I'd consider that $2,700 well spent...!

    Last QantasLink 717 service

CBR-SYD is one of the biggest impacts for me. With no 717 from next week there's only 1 flight each day with J class (on a 737), dropping from 4 flights with the 717. Given VA outsources the route to Link with their Saabs (obviously no J there either) that leaves us with 12 J seats per day to...
