    Handling a missed flight situation

I was on hold with the call centre for the entire drive to the airport, so unless there was a failure of call waiting on my mobile I don't think Qantas actively tried to call me. There were certainly no messages left on my voicemail - I checked just now to be sure. I would have thought that a...

    Handling a missed flight situation

The ticketing staff at the airport rebooked me onto the 8am flight, at a cost of $150 which was a change fee plus the fare difference for the cheapest available class. As luck would have it I ended up on a 737 in 13C with nobody in 13B, so it was a pretty comfortable flight. In theory that's...

    Handling a missed flight situation

Firstly, apologies to anyone on QF1424 this morning - if you were delayed because a checked in passenger failed to board that'd be my fault... As it was the first time I've missed a flight where it wasn't the airline's fault, I'm curious to know how others handle this situation. I woke up at...

A very long run comes to an end...

OK, I'll walk back some of my frustration with QF as it turns out they handled the cancellation very well after all. I received a callback from the QF call centre about 40 minutes after my initial call. By that time QF had rebooked me onto a direct flight with VA that gets me to Brisbane...

A very long run comes to an end...

And again I find my self in exactly the same boat as you! I'm flying to Brisbane tomorrow, for some stupid reason I booked a QF flight in J. Everything seemed peachy until Qantas decided just now to cancel that flight. Of course Manage my Booking on the QF website still shows the flight as...

A very long run comes to an end...

I sympathise @Pleb Status - I’m in almost exactly the same situation this morning. I’ve been WP for just over 10 years, about 18000 SCs mainly earned through ACIRC and AONEx fares, but I haven’t flown Qantas internationally for about 15 months and only managed 160 SC this last year. As of this...

    SYD ATC Radar Failure 25/9/17

The tipping point for me was when a 3rd Sydney flight was called and I was still sitting in the lounge waiting for an update on 1424. I had no idea at that point that 1424 had been cancelled and I'd been rebooked onto a much later flight. Had I waited for my re-booked flight I would have...

    SYD ATC Radar Failure 25/9/17

And after 5 hours waiting in Canberra I'm back home again, day trip to Sydney cancelled. In the end 1424 was cancelled but no announcement was made in the lounge - I didn't find out until I made my 3rd trip to the lounge entry desk and was told I'd been moved to an afternoon flight. Given the...

    SYD ATC Radar Failure 25/9/17

Yup, 1462 cancelled here. 1424 now scheduled for 9:00, though the Qantas app just sent me a push notification that it had been cancelled contrary to the lounge announcement just made.

    SYD ATC Radar Failure 25/9/17

Assuming that’s operated by the same aircraft as 1510, your plane is still on the ground in CBR awaiting several passengers who might have decided to go home rather than wait it out.

    SYD ATC Radar Failure 25/9/17

1424 is definitely here in Canberra. They’ve now boarded 1510 and 1464, but not 1424. No announcements or explanation as to why the later flights are leaving before ours. What was an understandable delay is quickly becoming a frustration at how this is being handled.

    SYD ATC Radar Failure 25/9/17

Here in CBR they just started boarding the 6:30am 717, but for some reason not the 6:05am Dash 8 which has dropped off the display boards (my flight). Plenty of confused people here as a result.

    SYD ATC Radar Failure 25/9/17

Thanks - the 3 early morning CBR-SYD flights are all still sitting in Canberra without even a firm departure time, so I assumed Sydney would have been chaotic. Update: ABC News is reporting the issue as only affecting domestic flights, though I’m not sure if that’s accurate.

    SYD ATC Radar Failure 25/9/17

Looks like it's going to be an interesting morning in Sydney - apparently the entire ATC radar system has gone down and the airport is on ground stop. I can't find any other information online at this point, only what the lounge staff here in CBR have announced - anyone else affected?

    Scams like these

I got this email a couple of weeks ago purporting to be from eBay: That one set off every warning bell for malicious emails - no reference to our user ID, poor spelling & grammar, no punctuation, strange terminology, reference to previous messages that we hadn't received, etc etc. Turns out...

    Scams like these

At our previous house we didn't have a letterbox (by choice - we pulled it out when doing a knockdown-rebuild and never put one back) and we'd had an active mail redirection from that address to a PO Box in place for around 8 years. Still didn't stop Australia Post from dropping letters...

Booking Glitch or Ultimate Status Run - WLG-CBR

I've never flown SQ before but with their new direct CBR international flights starting in a few weeks I thought I'd consider them for an upcoming trip CBR-WLG-CBR. Either I've found a booking glitch, or this is a really great opportunity to earn some extra status credits / points / whatever SG...

Do Qantas keep notes on their frequent flyers?

My most specific example of QF keeping notes on their customers was one I encountered on a SYD-LAX trip back when QF flew First on the 747s. If I'm flying solo I usually spend some time chatting with the staff on long-haul flights - usually small talk about work, travel habits etc. This time I...
