Article: What I Value Most About Qantas Platinum Status

+1 to all of these^ Upgrade Priority is my #1, closely followed by Dom J lounge and SYD/MEL Flounge access. I fly a lot of east-west coast trips and upgrade to J almost every time, with pretty good success rate. Admittedly, often only 737 and arguably less ‘worth it’ but makes the routine much...

Qantas extends current status Until at least March 2021

Yep, just received this as well. My re-qual is end of Sept and although on-track to requal WP so far, the next 6 months were looking challenging given COVID-19 (not withstanding my recent DSC booking spree). Great news, well done Qantas.

Global Qantas Double Status Credits Offer (Book 20-26 Feb 2020; Fly: 28 Feb 2020-14 Feb 2021)

I assume that is Y? Noobie question, but if for some reason you did need to change the flight ;) , does it need to rebook into Y, or can you book into Q,V etc as long as fare more expensive?

Global Qantas Double Status Credits Offer (Book 20-26 Feb 2020; Fly: 28 Feb 2020-14 Feb 2021)

The T&C's make me question if they may have closed this loophole....? "Flight gift vouchers purchased during the promotion but not redeemed for an eligible flight booking during the promotion period will not earn double Status Credits." I assume 'redeemed for an eligible flight booking during...

Global Qantas Double Status Credits Offer (Book 20-26 Feb 2020; Fly: 28 Feb 2020-14 Feb 2021)

Wow, really!? So, if you buy GVs during the promotion window (next few days) then redeem in a few months time, that still counts (as long as the travel dates are in the eligible window)??

If you had a day to spend with AJ to fix QF what would you say ?

+1 to this - surprised it didn’t come up higher in the list! The flakiness of the QF website is astounding. At least they seem to have removed the 2-factor authentication.... that was super annoying and totally unnecessary.

Looking for a non-Bogan Bali experience

Bali doesn't have to be bogan at all - just get a villa and lock out the rest of the world. You only have to interact with bogans when you venture out for food and drinks, and if you choose the right area that interaction can be minimised. Plenty of lovely villas around Seminyak and further west...

Platinum sitting in economy - Do the airlines pay extra attention to us?

Yes, that's my interpretation of my experience - not so much that they lose "shadow status" more that they are the last seats available to be filled. When they do get filled, it seems 50/50 whether they are other WP+s (who chose to fill them) or completely random pax who were slotted in last...

Platinum sitting in economy - Do the airlines pay extra attention to us?

Not going to weigh in on the whole "shadows do / don't exist" debate, but as a WP flying trans-continental flights pretty much once a week for past 6 yrs, sitting aisle in the front 3 rows of economy, I rarely have someone sitting next to me. More often than not, there is a spare seat in the...

    Vegetarian/Vegan Business Class International Meal

Yes, I’ve definitely had a palak paneer curry on a couple of my QF J flights (and it was goooooood). Spot on about the bread roll thing though. I just ask for normal bread (and that yum cultured butter). I also send back that heinous vegan desert that they insist on giving us vegos too and get...

    Vegetarian/Vegan Business Class International Meal

The vegetarian meals in business class are usually very good and I would say from my experience that the Asian vegetarian meals are even better. I’ve had some genuinely amazing curries in J when I changed my special meal to AVML (Asian/Indian lacto-ovo vegetarian). ....now Y on the other...

    What's your company travel policy?

Used to be a lot better..... even dom > 4 hrs used to qualify for J (most places), but alas no longer!!

    What's your company travel policy?

I have heard that the issue in some cases is the overall corporate deal your company may have teed up with the carrier. I understand that although the rates and availability through the travel portal may be similar to what is available direct from the carrier’s site / travel agent, that there...

    Advice on VPN

Wasn’t aware of the AFF Nord deal. I’ve been using VanishedVPN for a couple of years and it is fantastic. Australian-based provider and un-geo blocks everything I’ve required (US, UK, India, etc), plus some very useful guides on the best value-for-money options in foreign streaming services for...

Tips for moving from QFF to BAEC (QF WP + LTG)...

Ok, so an update on my current thinking (in case it is useful to anyone!).... As I’ve thought more about this, it all hinges on my ongoing ability to retain QF WP currently.... Basically, if DSCs go away I will struggle and will drop back to LTG. To me, that is the point where directing my SCs...

    What's your company travel policy?

Ours is discount Y ....fully flex Y by exception only, but the preference is to use discount Y and just pay the change fee if required. Apparently they modelled it out and figured out that was more cost effective overall for the whole firm. International is J for client work, but one team I...

Calling all Qantas Frequent Fliers - your candid views please

Would love to do this but given Qantas are a big client of ours, might be a career limiting move! 😄 Good luck though and kudos on reaching out to this community; you’ve definitely come to the right place!

QF Double Status Credit Promos - I am not 100% sure I follow the logic anymore...

...to be clear, this is all “if” DSC’s are done and dusted. The problem is we won’t know 100% for sure, for a bit longer I feel.

QF Double Status Credit Promos - I am not 100% sure I follow the logic anymore...

I guess we will see..... If DSC’s are truly a thing of the past, it will impact my booking behaviour - I currently requal WP (somewhere between ‘comfortably’ and ‘just’ depending on the year), even though I fly min of one cross-country segment per week on average (low SC due to company disc...
