    Qantas Courtesy Upgrade Love

Back in probably the nineties, coming back from Europe or the UK, I had a flight such that the SIN-MEL leg was a morning departure. On boarding it transpired all J pax were put upstairs on the 747, and "high" status Y QFF pax were seated in downstairs J with Y catering/service. This was in the...

    What cheeses me off

Our council has a cat curfew overnight and cats can be caught and impounded (which carries a fine/release fee). Also Vic has cat trespass laws which are enforceable on the owner for non compliance. The fundamental problem is it isn't the animals that need the licensing, it's the owners.

    What cheeses me off

I've just splashed out the $2 for a Sim from a shop and ported my number when I wanted it done. Never had an issue. Asking/telling the Telco to delay the port to a specific time is likely outside of their offered capabilities.

    787 or A380 to USA

The A380 also offers you the 4 seats in the middle of the cabin that you could hopefully get as a family of 4. I'd still disagree though that with small children the 787 would feel more cramped than the A380. The 787 definitely has better legroom, and its seats are definitely narrower, but with...

    787 or A380 to USA

If your kids are smaller than an economy seat, then that negates the biggest issue of the 787 - its narrower seats.

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

    First Qantas A220 revealed

Doesn't that just mean the premium FF who refuse to pay for those seats and select a "normal" seat end up with an inferior QF experience to the NB with no selection who is then allocated the vacant extra legroom seats on check-in? I know this has been the essence of previous discussion but just...

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

PER lounge is also a dungeon albeit one with a sky light. I also thought they were hot dogs rather than burgers (glorified sausage in bread aka Bunnings). The QF website even called them "sausage sandwich".

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

But when the But when they do, the problems of service recovery for these long P2P routes have been very well demonstrated...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

I didn't say or imply that they were. In fact most wouldn't be. The reality is flying in to Manchester, Birmingham, or Glasgow would provide a much more convenient and shorter ground transfer than doing a flight in to LHR. Getting from LHR to Kings Cross or St Pancras is a pain in the proverbial...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

And how many of them would therefore actually have London as their destination?

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

LHR <> London <> UK. No doubt sunrise might fulfil a tiny niche but of those who fly to LHR at the moment, how many actually just go to London? Hub and spoke allows people to get to where they want to go. It's like suggesting that those who really want to go Perth-Canberra instead fly to Sydney...

Seemingly trivial reasons why you choose one hotel/airline/shop over another

Fresh(er) air - airlines/aircraft with individual air vents, hotels with opening windows.

    QANTAS talking to the disaffected!

Not really. Baggage delivery has always been a joke.

    QantasLink Dash 8 Guide

CNS-POM in a dash 8. Took a while to get my head around getting an international cabin service in the dash 8, but as WP I had the 4 seats at the front to myself (oh! When being a WP meant something), which was a tad embarrassing on what was quite a full flight.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Couldn't read that part of the menu on my phone. A good biriyani as a main would be excellent, but it wasn't on offer as a main. I'm not a fussy eater in the great scheme of things, but it just manages to touch on the 2 things I hate - squidgy textures (tofu, eggplant, excess pork fat), and...

Where to go in Europe that's mild in winter

Canary Islands. Southern Italy might not be too cold. But why go to NH winter and hide from it? Geneva, Vienna provide many options.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I'm with you. Pork belly aka pork fat. And don't do seafood. Vegie sometimes ok but never eggplant. Not a real meat option on the menu. A big fail. Didn't really have an option to offer and probably knew it.

    Qantas vs Cathay Y MEL-HKG?
