Why I'm unlikely to ever "Cruise" (At least on a large ship)

It's also quite obvious that there is a large discrepancy between the travel budget of many who have contributed to this thread and ours. The smaller five star ships are way outside my budget. Sure I would love to experience some of the suggested travel on here. But I also have to admit that...

Why I'm unlikely to ever "Cruise" (At least on a large ship)

As a person with well over 50 cruises on mass market lines I would also not recommend it s a way to visit places and see them at their best. For us though who both travel on a budget and enjoy land travel at a more leisurely pace Royal Caribbean in particular offer us great value. Just like...

Lounge etiquette - sleeping in lounges

I have slept a few times on the sofas in the Silverkris lounge in Singapore. The staff there even provide blankets and pillows. The lounge is quite empty from around 1 am until early morning.

China - never a dull moment!

Always the train for me if I can work it into my itinerary. Just heading off to catch the train along the recently completed Shenyang to Beijing high speed line. Will reduce the time for the almost 700klm journey down to under 3 hours compared to the 5 hours on the previous high speed line.

    Vietnam Visa - Apply online..?

That's the difficulty with the new multiple entry visas. You may enter and leave each time through different places yet the application allows you to list only two. The information we received on some recent cruises specifically said that we had to get the entry exit ports correct. This was...

Just spent a few days in Dalian. It is well worth a visit. Even a few ok beaches and the water looked quite clean. Locals getting a good tan up.

China - never a dull moment!

More Penfolds last night. The explanation for the unlabelled Baijiu was that it is bottled this way so that it does not draw unnecessary attention to extravagance when drinking at official occasions. The contents were top shelf. Another only in China moment.

China - never a dull moment!

Following on from an earlier CE post. Hire bikes and scooters are everywhere in Shenyang. They do appear to have designated locations to leave them and people who routinely tidy them up. The plastic e-scooters are a silent threat with people buzzing around everywhere including footpaths.
