Just the mention of trains reminded me. We bought first class (Green car) on the Osaka to Tokyo journey. I was expecting nice things..it was fast yes, at times and late! Personally I think First Great Western between London and Bristol is far more comfortable and actually has a service on board...

Do you find this by booking via BA or were you using a TA?

This is a nuisance and seems to be similar between award flights on QF or VA with various airlines. I really do wish they could get this all aligned in order to avoid the hit n miss. For many people while spending their hard earned points etc, not being able to choose a seat is quite problematic.

So two claim for points then...one ..being forced to watch any movie without ability to turn of the screen..and two...not having any IFE in the first instance!! ,🤭

I'm sure you are right..mostly. I don't claim knowledge of how airlines view or really operate FF programmes. However I think many did not see the likes of IB,AY, QR, albeit all one world join BA and AVIOS. Many here said the "buy in" with QR for VA would never get to the stage it now has...
