Lovely gesture from Qantas staff in the LAX F lounge tonight. After hearing our adult children were unable to join my wife and I (only I’m WP), our host Nubia spoke to a Qantas GM Alexi who then paged them in the business lounge and arranged for them to join us.

I may have distracted the lounge attendant on entry asking about seating changes. In any case we all made it into F unquestioned

Still no luck. I tried both retrying against the original request and starting a whole new request. It seems they just wouldn’t release a J seat to a NB. Probably would have been a different story if I was on the ticket. Hopefully the upgrade comes through or else I’ll appeal to the CSM...

Interesting, thank you for confirming. I don't think they are trying up upgrade the current booking as that is under a different booking reference. My first attempt the operator mistakenly put the request under my NB daughters account which was silently rejected. After not hearing anything...

Could someone please post availability on QF75 SYD-YVR for October 31 My daughter already has a Classic Award Y+ seat and as a WP I've been unsuccessful in requesting J to be released for which there appears to be 9+ seats available. I suspect it is a I vs D fare class issue.

No early December for me. All Melbourne A380 flights appear to be impacted

My Saturday MEL-LAX A380 Y flight in December has also been switched to MEL-SYD-LAX A380. I could switch to a Sunday 787 flight with an 11am departure or stick to the 8am Sat MEL-SYD flight in the hope of an increased probability of upgrade.

The airport staff said I needed a PCR to leave the airport although online it mentions a RAT should be ok too. I’d do a PCR to be sure.

Was not up to QF F standards but certainly not a bad way to spend 9 hours given I wasn’t allowed to leave the airport due to lack of COVID test Quiet rooms were a good place to relax
