Qantas to focus staff & operations in Sydney (details of NSW deal revealed)

Surprised that was your interpretation from that comment.

Correct - disposed of in terminal on arrival.

Due to fly Melbourne to Perth June 12th. Chances of flying?

We have been quite lucky in that regard. Many people would prefer a short lockdown if it prevented widespread community transmission.

When I did SYD-PER and return over Easter, they provided new face masks at the half way point each way, advising to change.

Due to fly Melbourne to Perth June 12th. Chances of flying?

They didn’t wait for 28 days from the last QLD and NSW outbreaks - but it certainly will be at least 14.

Due to fly Melbourne to Perth June 12th. Chances of flying?

WA aren’t going to allow with community transmission. Zero chance of you travelling with so many active cases and daily infections within 14 days of travel.

AKL-SYD 738 (after CHC-SYD was cancelled). Braised beef cheek. Was actually quite tasty although a little on the fatty side. Good crew - top ups offered and a PDB.

OLCI for Trans Tasman. Is it available Currently?

    I can’t check in for NZ-AU - seems to be a theme.

Last time I had it, it tasted no better than it looked

    Trans Tasman J post COVID

To add to above, it’s fair to say, the demand isn’t currently where airlines expected. Mostly because people are fearful to travel - especially NZ to Aus if they get locked out/have to quarantine on return. So they are constantly adjusting services to match.

    Trans Tasman J post COVID

I meant read the entire thread as all flights are being downgraded, including AKL-SYD. I wasn’t using CHC as a benchmark as generally an A330 is too large and hasn’t historically been used (maybe we will see higher demand in ski season). All I am saying is expect for things to change - flight...

OLCI for Trans Tasman. Is it available Currently?

I couldn’t check in earlier today (returning from CHC to SYD, it’s complicated), but it seems it was due to the flight being oversold, and I’ve been switched.

    Trans Tasman J post COVID

Just read above. It’s quite possible for it to change. The demand is very fluid. I’m now flying CHC-AKL-SYD, which works out better, as the CHC-MEL flight is oversold (due to the consolidation, no doubt). I wouldn’t book and rely on it being an A33x.

    Trans Tasman J post COVID

I’m returning CHC-SYD Monday - both flights were originally A333 but downgauged to 738 (not surprisingly given limited traffic on this route). Even worse though, they’ve cancelled the CHC-SYD flight and I now need to do CHC-MEL-SYD, adding two hours to my trip. So Qantas will consolidate if it...

Least you got the A33(3?) - both of my flights (today and return on Monday) were downgraded to 738 - justifiably, although load was reasonable today, but I keep missing the A330 on QF J and yet to try it.

Wouldn’t be surprised - I’ll let you know Monday what the outbound flight is - pretty much a straight turnaround (arrives 2.25 like I did today and departs 3.35).

International J is pretty much domestic J at the moment - probably understandable as the flight time is shorter than to PER. Only difference I noted is that we had pre-departure beverages and in-flight entertainment; but maybe that’s started on domestic too.

SYD-CHC QF137 738 - green curry chicken. Other options were the pork sausages that seem to be on every flight, and the quinoa or whatever salad, which seem to be also. Wine was a 2017 Shiraz from the Hunter (name unknown but was nice enough). Sparkling offered as pre-departure - and refilled...
