Needed to be said….Mentour Pilot discusses the fall of QF

Look there is definitely a big argument that bagging the home team airline is a national sport no matter where you are. Between local media/local online forums in these countries and my own friends/family I see plenty of Kiwi's bashing Air New Zealand and plenty of Brits bashing British...

Why You Should NOT Book flights with Booking.com or GoToGate.com

Never use those online tools All their "assistance" are off shore centres who have no idea Thats is if you can even make contact. Your much better to use a good local agent , will you pay a booking fee? Sure Would they have been able to fix those problems for you straight away? Yes

Checking in to a hotel at a self-service kiosk?

I guess you could argue as well that tired road warriors would generally appreciate a quick check in via a self service kiosk over someone looking for a "luxury" experience though the expectation would have to be at least a choice offered in a 5 star property.

Qantas to introduce hot meals and hot snacks on most domestic flights, extends tea and coffee service

Granted its only 50 minutes but on a recent AA flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, the cabin crew did not leave their jump seats the entire flight. No turbulence and a beautiful flying day which the coughpit made mention of before we took off ) I don't know what their reply would have been...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

I think it's fair to say that Project Sunrise will be a success with the business/corporate market who are not paying and want to get in and out as quicky as possible and the one/two stop's will continue to be a success with the leisure market who are paying. I actually feel there is more then...

    Enough time to make flight?

I did this in February ( arriving from MEL on UA, separate ticket on AA to LAS ) it took me exactly 2 hours from the aircraft door through to landside ( immigration was absolutely horrendous that day at 7.30- 8.00am ) I had land luggage only so going back through security to airside was...

    Emirates inflight safety video

I think the big Stephen Spielberg productions were a great novelty and interesting originally but now are just noise to most passengers. Me, I find myself way more engaged when the Cabin Crew are standing in the aisle doing a manual demonstration ( and yes I get it's probably not the best use...

    Experiences on Qantas staff travel

I was speaking to a ( fairly high up ) QF staff member recently and he said for the most part he and the colleagues just wait for sale fares like everyone else and book a revenue ticket ,trying to get staff travel is just not worth the stress and hassle apparently.

Does Qantas cancel international flights due to low loads?

I have heard from a QF source that they are actually 2 aircraft down at the moment due to technical reasons hence the LAX issues.

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

I'm not sure I get the big deal of being separated from your travel companion/colleague for a few minutes during boarding if they are in a different group to you and it means a more efficient boarding process ultimately.

Does Qantas cancel international flights due to low loads?

9's across the board does not mean the flight is empty, it just means they are willing to sell you a seat in any fare bucket/tier I flew to Los Angeles in February on UA and Hong Kong a few weeks ago on CX, Both showed wide open the day before but in reality were fully booked when the aircraft...

Short turnarounds: Have you flown back from your destination with the same crew?

Not so crew wise but in the early days of REX flying on the triangle , I flew MEL/SYD on a Saturday afternoon landing around 3pm and flew back Sunday morning around 9.00am to MEL ,same plane, same seat , same gate , I checked Flight Radar and the aircraft hasn't operated another sector since the...

    WSI for Western Sydney Airport

Stansted is the 4th busiest airport in the UK so I should think they would be very happy with that sort of success!

MEL reportedly best airport in Australia

I've got to say, as a regular Skybus user I think it's pretty good. Every 15 minutes so it's pretty much a walk up and go service and a quick 20 - 25 Minute journey. It's outrageously expensive but the train, if/when built wouldn't be any cheaper you can guarantee it and I doubt it would be any...

Qantas Staff Incompetence - Ticketed 2 adults and not infant, leading to denied boarding

Lets talk about the 787 windows

I feel like the people in this thread who are demanding that the shades be lowered/dimmed on day flights are people who never choose/select to sit in a window seat but want to control what is happening over at that seat. Surely the solution is to book a window seat yourself and then you can...

Lets talk about the 787 windows

I guess for me personally I choose/pay extra for a window seat to look out of said window and that was my point, if its going to be closed the entire flight I'd never choose it or pay extra for it. I'd just go pay for an aisle and get the benefits of an aisle instead. I absolutely don't argue...

Lets talk about the 787 windows

I think the key here is that more and more airlines outside of status, charge for a seat selection and the seat selection is advertised and sold as a choice of Window seat / Middle seat / Aisle seat So the ( possibly legal ) argument is if I have selected a window seat for an extra cost to...

Sydney to LAX - Which carrier for Economy

I have just returned from a MEL/LAX/MEL in Y and found United to be surprisingly good! I prepared myself for the worst but they were certainly streaks ahead of when I last flew with them a few times in the late 90's Food was good and plentiful , drinks flowed and the Cabin Crew came through...

Article: Qantas Considers Bringing Call Centres Back to Australia

My money is on their overseas call centre contracts are up for re-tender so they have " leaked " that they might bring them back to Oz in order to scare, sorry I mean assist with negotiations.
