15%* bonus miles when you convert your bank reward points to KrisFlyer miles! (By 22 Nov 2021)

Another data point. ANZ rewards to KF was instantaneous, however do note that whilst you can transfer the points online, ANZ rewards requires you to call them back to validate details before they initiate the transfer on their side (this was a first time transfer for me from ANZ rewards though).

OWA flights - Email from Qantas notifying of flight change which stuffs up our plans

As the others have suggested try another airport in the UK (MAN, LHR, LGW) or western Europe (CDG, FRA, AMS) and then get an onward flight to DUB from there. Otherwise you may need to backtrack to KIX or all the way to TYO to get more choices of flights particularly with JL.

    Singapore Airlines plane options

Well at the moment, the 2x daily scheduled flights from November are A359 regional aircraft, so you won't get a choice. The business class on the A359 regionals are identical to the 787-10, which differ to the product on the A359 longhaul aircraft.

    Travel Insurance which covers COVID-19?

In the situation you caught COVID, recover with no further symptoms, you would then need a medical certificate certifying you have recovered from COVID and it has been 14 days since you first tested positive to COVID, notwithstanding the PCR test is still recording a positive result.

Would like to hear peoples experiences of positioning flight to SIN then Turkish Business to LHR

Be very careful with the connections you try to connect up in SIN, particularly on separate tickets and on different airlines. SIN has some very restrictive transit rules and as it stands, QF-TK is not permitted. https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/travel-info/transit-through-singapore/

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

The health advice also mentioned that if you don't provision enough food for 14 days and run out, going hungry for a few days isn't a bad because as a population we're generally on the overweight side. The health advice also has a footnote to say if the above situation were to occur, running...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

What about the great Kingdom of the North ruled by House of Gunner or the Great Lord Barr of the Capital? Will Lord Barr allow those of the Capital to traverse the lands of Prince Perrottet to seek freedom? Will House of Gunner allow the Northerners refuge on the London express which will make a...

You can leave Australia from November, but can you get back?

This is only 1 datapoint, but SIN-SYD on 27th Dec, $600 one way on QF. That would've been cheap as chips pre-covid

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

People applying for leave is a minor piece in this partcularly around Dec/Jan when people would be taking time off anyway, there are massive leave balances being accrued atm particularly in NSW/VIC where lockdowns has meant lower levels of leave taken so businesses will be happy for people to...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Interesting that QF has got both Singapore and Japan for scheduled flights given Australians can't currently enter either country for the purposes of tourism. It's all well and good being allowed to travel outside of Oz but any holiday is still contingent on the country you're planning to go to...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Unlikely such a scenario would exist. Singapore currently has a few hundred cases a day and those cases are likely to remain at that level or even higher as they start to open. Given WA has shut off VIC at even 200 odd cases a day, it would be counterintuitive that WA would have an open border...

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

I cancelled my Charge card in March 2020 and I still have Hilton and Marriott Gold, part of this was probably due to the hotels extending status because of COVID Yes PP was cancelled for me within a week. My AFR subscription lasted until they canned AFR in June this year, so I got a bonus year...

Is it worth more to redeem (transfer) Amex Point for Flights (Krisflyer) or Hotel (Marriott)?

As a general rule, I'd say SQ points are more valuable but of course COVID has changed the equation. It really depends on the hotel you plan on staying at. Like airline points, the best bang for buck are the hotel rooms that are ordinarily $400+ night similar to airline points where its the...

Amex Travel Credit - covid implication

Sharing my experience with the 2 travel credits I had at the start of the year. I took 2 educated "bets" that Qantas resuming international flights in July and which they then subsequently pushed back to October 2021 was overly optimistic. Travel Credit 1: Booked a one-way flight in January...
