How did you go with this? I'm in a similar situation. I've an award flight booked on QF from Syd to PPT on one booking ref. But due to change in plans - I want to cancel the Syd to PPT leg and just keep the PPT to Syd leg. Don't think there is a solution? There are no more award flights...

got the card on 28th Jun, spent 3k within first few days. First statement generated on 06th July and came with the 100k signup bonus. Canceled the card the next day and got the entire fee of A$295back.
