Also welcome back @TonyHancock . While you were away, I was forced to reveal your Griselda's true identity and was fearing for the worst for you! https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/threads/member-chit-chat.89120/post-2663174

Christmas markets in Europe and Caribbean cruise (RTW)

Well, Happy New Year to everyone; here at DFW its a fine, chilly day as I wait for QF8 tonight. _________________ Almost the entire perimeter of the Old Town, is lined with defensive fortification/wall, which was constructed in the early 1600s after the repeated attacks by pirates, including...

Logging in to AFF on a new device

Well, I've fixed my issue on my main phone, but still wouldn't mind knowing how to log on with a single new device - the second factor authentification. I'd only want to use Google in an emergency.

How long to pack for a trip?

On a variation to this theme, and a philosophy. If I am going to take a checked bag, I'll take everything. I can still tow a heavy bag (and a carry-on) and lift it onto a bus etc. Antarctica last year was 23kg; this years trip was abt 20kg Packing for a cold climate, like the northern...

Logging in to AFF on a new device

Yes, and that's the issue. Step 1 - give it my e-mail address and password - works Then immediately pops up "How would you like to sign in to "www.aff etc" Either Use a QR code on another device (I can't do that, other iPhone disabled ATM) OR use a security key (physical) or via NFC (don't...

Logging in to AFF on a new device

No e-mail and password step 1 - they work; but 2nd step verification needs passkey or security key (or so it tells me).

Logging in to AFF on a new device

I've had to revert to my spare iPhone (and am posting this on my laptop). I need to log in. Name and password OK then it asks for passkey from another device via scanning a QR code (can't do that) or a security key (don't have one of those). Can I log in another way? I find I do have AFF on...

Christmas markets in Europe and Caribbean cruise (RTW)

I made a beeline for Ábaco Libros y Café, a recommended coffee shop, inside a bookshop. I left the Byron in Spanish to other readers. :)

The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Catherine of Alexandria was built between 1577 and 1612. In 1586, while still under construction, it was attacked by the English privateer Francis Drake, which caused severe damage and delayed its completion. Wikipedia again: Drake, “El Draque”, appeared before...

Isn’t that the repost for just about all comments here except for our pilots and ATC bods?

I found the quality of a buffet pretty good and I detest all the stuffing around that happens when you have to have order a la carte breakfast. Besides sitting on the back open deck is very pleasant for breakfast in the tropics 😊. And I never have cooked breakfast.

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

But that’s just defacto, isn’t it? Still based on SCs earned on particular routes and classes of travel. There is a thread discussing whether Qantas is going to go to an actual revenue based model like VA has. Sorry, I know this off-topic but I was wondering about global comparisons and...

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

‘For now’ being the operative bit. It might be interesting in a year or so when more Airlines including Qantas go to a revenue based model or variations on that and comparisons between programs will be much more obvious. Will they finesse their thresholds to attract spend based on a lower...

How long to pack for a trip?

If the trip is not HLO then I’ll start putting things next to the case in a spare bedroom probably two weeks before. Just bits and pieces as I think of them. Recharge everything, including outside security stuff day prior. Then the day or night before, I will probably take half an hour to pack...

Whatever you do, don't let Mr FF get together with Mr @Denali . Two families may be sent into poverty.

Christmas markets in Europe and Caribbean cruise (RTW)

Cartagena is a very old and historic city. Bit taken from Wikipedia (non-consecutive paras) The present city—named after Cartagena, Spain and by extension, the historic city of Carthage—was founded on 1 June 1533, making it one of South America’s oldest colonial cities; but settlement by...

Christmas markets in Europe and Caribbean cruise (RTW)

Even though it was approaching the hottest part of the day, I went out for a recce. The old town consists of a grid of narrow (1 car wide) streets in an area about 400x600m, surrounded by the old sea wall and fortifications. A lot of it is quaint, some dirty and smelly, all busy, most a bit...

Christmas markets in Europe and Caribbean cruise (RTW)

After a sea day, we arrived at Cartagena, Colombia about 7:30am, where I was to disembark. I'd guess maybe 50 of us left the ship here, the others continuing to Fort Lauderdale. As usual, main bag was collected the night prior to hopefully meet up with me tomorrow and I had to vacate suite by...
