I broke a plastic piece on the pool filter last night. No proper part available around here so I have bodged up a temporary repair. It was nice laying in the son trying to fix it when the temperature is on its way to 43.4 C.

Santa made it to my 8 year old grandsons T-Ball game today in suburban Perth - Southern River. It only got up to 38 C today so the game went ahead. It is only cancelled if the predicted maximum is 40 C and up.

You are certainly having a better time with the trains. However the snow certainly made it feel a little more of a European Christmas.

Those oppressively hot hotel rooms and also many shops are really annoying.

When we were there and in southern Germany last year with lots of snow everyone kept telling us that it was abnormally early. This year seems to support those claims. It is a pity you have missed out on snow so far. It did make the whole Christmas market experience even more fun.

To me this take-off looks risky. I would have been squeezing my armrest pretty tightly if I was onboard. Am I just underestimating the ability of aa aircraft to handle crosswinds or was it an 'adventurous' take-off

Good move on the 4 wheel suitcase. Last Christmas in the German snowy slush my 2 wheel one was much easier to use than my wifes new 4 wheel one. Hers often became bogged in the deeper snow. I also found my 2 wheeler easier to use on cobblestones.

If anyone has been to Lyon - how many days would you think it demands? We will be there, God willing, in early June next year. I had thought about a couple of days for the city and then another day or two for 'day trips' by train to surrounding towns.

A couple of years ago in Prague the only time we really had to use cash was at the Farmers Market and at some Public Toilets.
