For me the value is still with Elevate. Freedom just isn’t worth the extra unless you are close to going up a tier.

Try promo code FMZ59 when looking for J saver fares. The route above seems to be a bit of an anomaly in terms of pricing though so you might just have to try a few dates. And yep that is me with MaRLo at ASOT in Malaysia a few years ago :D

You probably would have had a much better time just shooting those points across to KrisFlyer and booking from there - availability tends to be much better and the booking process is very simple. Transferring to KrisFlyer at 1 Velocity point to 0.6452 KF would have been roughly the same cost too.
