Thanks Ko0l. I tried that and somehow now got stuck at enrol in Hilton. A red error flag wanted an existing membership number which I did not have and it would not let me proceeed - arrrgh! I enrolled in Marriott and Accor and it is pending.

We have activated Plat card but could not find the Amex Plat benefits page with 'enrol now' buttons for activating hotels and PP card etc. Could you please send a generic link? Thanks!

@Mattg - nice review of this aircraft. We will be flying it on AC from YYZ to SJO - 5 hours plus flight each way. We booked Y on the outbound (cost $600 pp) and J on the inbound (J cost double Y pp). We hope it will be a nice plane.

Happened to us on 2 BA long haul flights. One flight in F, they moved one of us (window), on board we saw seat was taped up, then a crew member came later during flight to remove tape and someone sat in it. Another flight in J, they changed our seats (to the middle and back of J section)...

Pleased to report that one very happy niece is now home. Indeed the flight was not full and she had the whole 3 seats to herself, as well as quite a few other pax. The toilet was clean. A very pleasant flight ✈️👍 Thanks everyone for your comments and help with seat maps etc. - much appreciated.

Thanks everyone. Niece is about to board the long 15h flight home. She had a good time with her father. Hubby will pick her up from the airport tomorrow morning.

The lady at the counter could not say when niece could not check in online. But niece said the checkin experience at LAX was very smooth and pleasant compared to SYD.

Thanks, Seat0B. Niece checked in at counter and said the experience at LAX was so much better than at SYD. No drama - except for the very long lines for security (but I know that's very normal for LAX, even for us travelling in J and F with dedicated lines.)
