Update on Teen foot/leg - scans didn't show anything (achilles tendon looked fine), suggested maybe an MRI, but the GP said to wait a couple of weeks before jumping into that. Stopped the daily celebrex last weekend. Still dropping off at school, but had 1-2 days of having to walk home from the...

    The C. P. A. P. thread

Seeking advice - my Dad is planning on flying to HNL on QF later this year (not yet booked), QF103 one-way to HNL, and then a cruise back to Australia. He's planning to buy Y+ tickets for him and his wife. I know there's a power outlet at the seats (not just USB) and I know Qantas require a...

Annual NZ Dinner: CHC 9 March 2024

We had a great tailwind into BNE yesterday and landed ~45 mins early. So we had time to bust the site supervisor out of jail before going home! Yay! Also making my Monday less logistically challenging. Hopefully we’ll be back to a two car family soon … but it has been 13 years as a single car...

Annual NZ Dinner: CHC 9 March 2024

Late brekky at Drexels in Riccarton, with genuine American diner style breakfast fare. Burp! A bit of a wander around the Westfield, Gong Cha for the Teen, Starbucks for the parents, and then back to the DT and now in the Manaia lounge.

Annual NZ Dinner: CHC 9 March 2024

Team Katie have arrived. Relieved to have a FAR less circuitous arrival into CHC than last year’s trip via WLG.

Cheers! Not sure what this fizz is, Mr Katie collected it from the bar for me. Din dins in the BNE Intl lounge seems to be make your own tacos. Sounds messy to me!

Esta, new passport and USA quick trip

I took the now-Teen on a trip to the USA when she had less than 6 months validity left (and I wanted to squeeze every possible day out of that 5-year passport!). No issues departing Aus or arriving in the US. The ESTA will just be valid for the 4 months, and expire with the passport.

Annual NZ Dinner: CHC 9 March 2024

Trying to work from home ... site supervisor is curled up near me and doesn't know he got the surprise walk this morning because he's off to the kennel for the weekend. Luckily the Teen has study period last on Fridays now, as we'll be busting her out of school early.

Qantas mainline to fly BNE-WLG, replacing QantasLink flights

Ooh, I expect a trip to WLG this year, but I'm not sure it will be as late as Oct. Mum will probably want to fly AirNZ anyway.

Discussion Dogs, Pups, K 9’s and man’s best friend in general [with Pictures]

Q is on a diet. He is waiting for the Teen to finish their brekky so he can score some omelette crumbs …

Annual NZ Dinner: CHC 9 March 2024

Alrighty, I'd love some ideas for things to do in CHC on Saturday and Sunday morning. Our last trip (adults-only, sans enfant) was a bit of a wipe out with arriving at ~8:30am rather than midnight. Mr Katie and I are happy enough to toodle about, there's a yarn shop I didn't get to last year...

The back part. And when the physio moved her heel rather than foot or toes. She's also said she feels burning under the arch of her foot sometimes, and sometimes her bigt toe gets numb. I think we managed to remember and report all symptoms to the GP, who I felt did a really thorough examination.

Just back from the GP (now missing the time when they were recovering from the 2022 floods, and our GP was at a clinic ~500m from the Teen's school rather than ~500m from home :P) Knee and foot ultrasound booked for Tuesday, earliest possible. Definitely achilles problems. Said to stop the...

USA Entry - CBP Mobile Passport control app [MPC]

I used it at LAX on 25 Jan after arriving on QF11. I was close to the front of the line anyway, and similar to snabbu, couldn't see any specific lines for MPC - though I wasn't in line long enough to spot one. Didn't show the agent my app when I got to the front of the queue; however, the only...

I've ended up with orthotics as well. My podiatrist also made me a section of pool noodle with a wooden dowel through it - I stand on this to try to relieve some of the pain of the plantar faciitis. Spiky ball or even a towel rolled up it a good alternative, depending how severe the pain is at...

The Teen does not play sports. She can't remember any injuries ... but this is also the same child who ~2 yrs ago presumably hurt her knee at kickboxing and required surgery after chipping a bit off the back of her patella. So it wouldn't be surprising if she didn't remember a minor injury...

Took the Teen to Urgent Care in inner north Brisbane last Tuesday, after the school nurse decided she needed to go home with foot pain. Dr said tendon issue, rest, ice, brufen (400mg ibuprofen). Teen insists pain meds aren't effective on her (school nurse has suggested trying to see SKiP in...
