My wife called this morning to link her Explorer and Edge on the same account. First call went through to an Australian CSR and she had no problems linking them together. Says it will take 24 hours for them to link and move the points across . I can already see the accounts linked after 30 min.

I told them I wanted to use the credit but couldn't see it on my online account, they had a look on their end and put me hold, couple minutes later they said they had manually added it. I logged back in and there it was.

My credit disappeared after linking my Explorer to Ascent. I called up today and they were able to manually add the credit back to my account. Took less than 5 minutes on the phone and the credit is now available to be used.

It's 2000 per card. Have another 20,000 points sitting in my account from this mornings purchase:D

Yes you will be considered a CX passenger since you arrived on a CX flight, they normally only request to view your boarding pass from your flight. I have used the lounge quite a few times when I have booked the flight with QFF points.

My vote goes to the QF lounge, good food and drink options. I was only briefly in the EK lounge and found it a bit underwhelming.

From my experience, I used the same login for both Platinum Edge and Explorer and they came unlinked. I spent my $1.5 and got the bonus points. I had to call 3 times but got them to link my accounts, the points transfer took about 24 hours to process.
