Qantas Promises to Fix Ongoing Reward Flight Ticketing Failures

I think the miracle is QF has somehow managed to keep the full scale of its incompetence out of the mainstream media for this long... I'm less forgiving as I think QF's behaviour in letting these issues drag on for so long has been quite unconscionable.

SQ's ops at MEL need a serious overhaul!

From what I understand, the push to self-service kiosks has come from SQ's internal transformation program, which has been in play since 2017. So yes, parallels with what AJ kicked off in 2014. In Australia, they started with Perth and have then extended onwards to other stations. As many above...

SQ's ops at MEL need a serious overhaul!

Agree that the kiosks are doing more harm than good. I believe they have recently removed them for SQ 238 due to low uptake. Matters aren't helped by MEL's airport layout, but obviously SQ needs to find a solution that works within these inescapable confines.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Yes, it seems to be missing from BTC in J from MEL and SYD. I seem to recall it being available for F, unless I was dreaming.

SQ's ops at MEL need a serious overhaul!

You were quite lucky, Dajop. Things have been far from good in the last few months. 40 minute departure delay on SQ 208 due to check-in issues, spent another 55 minutes in the queue for an SQ 238 and I stood next to a J queue that had at least 60 people in it for SQ 228. On the positive, MEL...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

You're probably on the right track here, mel-world by doing a registration search. A359 medium haul: 9V-SH* A359 long-haul: 9V-SM* or 9V-SJ* A359 ultra long-haul: 9V-SG* Looking at the seat maps for my MEL-SIN bookings for March onwards, SQ 217 / SQ 218 looks like it's the long-haul...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I actually snapped a pic of the perfect cook on one of my ex-LHR flights last year...apologies it's by no means a good image and insists on being uploaded sideways here.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

And PER used to be the pick of the lot by quite a margin! Recent experiences ex SIN have been fine but they seem to get smaller and smaller. I agree that catering is still not back to pre-covid levels and I've had bad steak from both MEL and SYD in the last year. Not a fan of the BTC macadamia...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

It is interesting that most foreign carriers have no immediate plans to increase their China capacity given the documented pent up demand. Qantas has already said they have no plans, but I expected SQ to ramp up services to Shanghai/Beijing given their previous frequencies. I have asked a...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Well! I flew PER-MEL last week in Y for the first time in quite a while. I'll confidently say I thought my Y meal was better than anything i've had in J on the same route for the last three years.

I have 2½ days in SIN

My pick for 2.5 days, in no particular order: - Dinner at the East Coast lagoon food centre - order a few dishes like sambal sting ray, prawn paste chicken and have a cold tiger beer and a coconut on the beach - A visit to Old Airport Road Hawker centre in Dakota - too many good things to...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

You may have a better chance of a waitlist clearing if one of your sectors (on a connecting itinerary) is available for confirmation. Agents will be more willing to send a chaser in this case. The odds of waitlists clearing are pretty slim. They're strictly enforcing 'quotas' for Saver and...

Classic Reward Seats - a thing of the past?

My experience in the last year is that seats have opened up very close to departure for many of the flights I've been looking at - around T-7.

The Master SQ Guide (Krisflyer, Waitlists & Waitlists Clearing)

Your experience matches mine, despite several attempts at escalations. I have also been told that if a waitlist clears on one booking, the confirmed sector cannot be transferred. I'm not sure if this is a system or process limitation that's been implemented but it seems to have stuck and I've...

    Singapore/Marriott two-way rewards program

I've done plenty of transfers from Marriott (and formerly SPG) and done very well over the years. Especially in the past when there were ample generous quarterly promotions and a 25% bonus for converting in larger multiples. The SQ -> Marriott conversion ratio isn't the least bit appealing, but...

SQ's ops at MEL need a serious overhaul!

Thanks @Cruiser Elite, hopefully I’ll bump into him on my next trip. I must say I’m wondering how much of this is to do with decisions SQ has taken rather than the airport itself. And by that I mean cost-saving measures that have come from HQ in Singapore. There’s a huge cost saving program...

SQ's ops at MEL need a serious overhaul!

I agree that things are not good ex-MEL at the moment. I was on SQ228 last week and the whole area was a palaver. Hundreds of people congregating in a small area, seemingly without directions on what to do or where to go. I can’t even imagine what it’ll be like when it transitions to the 380...
