Article: Amex Reopens Australian Airport Lounges

I took myself on a brief tour yesterday from the SQ SKL next door. I honestly couldn’t tell the difference and the food looks fairly miserable I must say.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Some good news...SQ will be returning the A380 to MEL (SQ237/SQ228) in mid May next year, as well as a second service to SYD. The not so good news is that it will be removed from JFK to allow for this up gauge.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

PER has generally always had the satay service on the afternoon departures unlike other Australian stations. It was explained to me several years ago that they're able to do it out of PER because of the shorter block and turnaround times as they're served within 8 hours of being loaded ex SIN...

    Ask The Pilot

A question for @jb747. I think most of us are aware that QF’s 380 fleet is not operating reliably and is stretched very thin at the moment. That said, I’ve now had three friends delayed separately in the last few weeks on OQH…and by delayed, I mean between 7 and 14 hours. On two of three...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I have tried to piece together two RTWs with KrisFlyer and on both occasions have not been successful. Routing limitations are extremely strict and the rule that you must continue in a continuous direction limits many of your options. You cannot backtrack at all, even if it’s for a couple of...

    Qantas Points Club Discussion

Interestingly only half of my 30,000 deposit has counted towards Points Club. Happy regardless!

Qantas reports $1.9bn loss - plans $400m buyback, COVID losses tally $7b

Add SQ, QR and EY to that list above. Very substantial profits too. The share buyback reminds me a lot of Boeing prior to the Max crisis. Now let's see how comfortable they are with funding their significant capex bill for 787s, A350s, A321Neos and A220s... Very kind of the previous government...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

We probably need to take a good hard look at ourselves if Singapore is ahead of us on this... Interestingly, I've found SQ crew quite flexible with this onboard. On my LHR-SIN a couple of weeks ago my mask must have fallen off while asleep. I found it nicely hung on the coat hook, nary a word...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I think it’s a combination of both at the moment. Fuel prices are high, which is a deterrent against using more 380s and 777s. But I’ve been told the biggest issue is a lack of 380 and 777 trained crew. This goes for both coughpit and cabin crew as I know for many their endorsements for the...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

SQ is operating the 350 Medium haul aircraft on longer sectors than many of us would have expected. It's operating 3/4 flights to MEL, 2/4 to SYD and 2/3 to BNE. It's also doing DXB as you note, as well as nearly all flights to Japan and Korea. Hopefully this will change as more A380s and B777s...

Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

I'd love to know if QF discussed the family diplomacy necessary to handle sticky situations such as this :D

Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

Happy to have snagged J to HNL for May, which is usually as rare as hens' teeth. The booking process wasn't without a hitch...as soon as the points deducted from my account and card was charged, I received a "generic error" that they were unable to ticket the booking and to give them a call. E...

Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

I'm not sure you're making a particularly compelling point here, Insider. On the topic of SQ's frequencies into Australia, I'm not sure how relevant that is, given they're a global airline that operates global contact centres? Never mind the fact they now have greater international market share...

Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

Platinum / LT Silver with an October renewal - offered 30k which suggests membership year is the key determining factor. Alan’s email says my membership is being extended - we’ll see about that.

Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

I suspect so. Flights are very full and yields are very strong, but airfares are expensive. I am aware of two major investment banks that had already exhausted their annual travel budgets by July and will be trying to curtail further travel for the year. If we extrapolate this, I think we can...

Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

I completely agree on both points. Good to get an acknowledgement, good to receive a peace offering too. I've also not flown Qantas since May. Absolutely all international travel on SQ, who are still able to run a very reliable and high quality operation. For domestic, I have recently started...

Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

Very interesting. It suggests to me that (1) Alan is finally starting to feel the heat and is trying to reframe the narrative after the unrelenting criticism and (2) Qantas is starting to get nervous about forward bookings.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Yes it’s really become incredibly difficult in the last couple of months, regardless of class. Chaser requests via the call centre are almost doomed to failure and there is now a message at the start of the call to indicate they are not able to expedite confirmation requests. Having a personal...
