Let's wait for Oct 2025 to see the drop in numbers for VA or may be better experience for those frequent flyers who actually fly in lieu of reduced numbers.
There always ways and means to get through this requirement.
I fly with virgin domestically because it gives reciprocal benefits with intl partner airlines because of it's status levels. However if that stream is cut off , pax would find a different avenue. I am sure we are not at loss by...
totally agree ; however my point was about the ratio of SG/WP who could benefit from the status when travelling with family.
The only change that I could see if I don't have the status is the ability to book free economy x seats , other than that the my credit card covers the lounge access...
might be good for those who travel a lot but not for someone like me who travels only 2/3 times a year that too for family holidays. I am going to be one of the first few to lose status post this.
As far as we have been on AFF , most of us are using the status to get into lounge but if the status is not maintained anymore , it will be the same bunch of us who will use the credit card benefits to get into the lounge ; sorry not going to spare the frequent flyers looking for some respite :D...
Looking further into the terms , if someone is flying for work regularly ( actual frequent traveller) then it might not be a big deal to retain status or attain lifetime gold however for non-travellers like me who fly occasionally for family holidays ... this looks to be a big change.
I looked at my activity only on VA flights and its a paltry 760 credits ( minus the partner airlines + family pooling). I am not sure if I would even attempt to maintain my status.
It depends , how often you travel and does it include travel along with family. I don't have any issue with the lounge access but when you travel overseas with family then the platinum status does help at times with priority boarding/extra luggage. YMMV
Members like me who don't travel a lot for work and count on family pooling/partner airlines to earn status credits , reaching lifetime gold on VFF will be a nightmare.
If am going to earn reduced velocity status credits on Singapore Airlines or other partner airlines then I would switch...
I pretty much had a similar response and they don't care. I was transferred to the cancellation team but I ended up hanging up. Will call again later this week.
