    Made any travel mistakes lately?

Sorry, I meant UK visitors to Vietnam

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

Indeed, the VOA requires an approval letter that you apply for online (dare I say electronically??) so offering both this and an e-visa is quite confusing for first time tourists to Vietnam. Would be great if they could offer the e-visa for multi trips and trips > 1 month. Of course, even better...

    Giro d'...toddler?

Interesting TR so far, enjoying this as we have also recently done a few J flights with an infant/ almost toddler and it can be quite trying at times. Going to squeeze in one last go on the lap before she turns 2 later this year with some sale flights to HND on ANA J. After that I am at a loss...

$100 off return Qantas flights to QLD (book by 19 May 2023)

I was about to pull the trigger on some flights when they killed the sale. Complained via the feedback form and surprisingly got a timely reply a few hours later advising they'd sold out of promo seats and gave me 5000 points as a gesture of goodwill.

Bamboo Airways $4228 to Europe J

Are they a LCC? Perhaps a hybrid a la VA? They're definitely a step up from the likes of Vietjet Air, AirAsiaX, Scoot et al. Can't comment on their Y but flew recently in J SYD-SGN-SYD. Their 787 has a pretty decent hard product with 1-2-1 reverse herringbone flatbeds. Service was a bit patchy...

ANA SYD/BNE-HND++ Business Return from $3,176

Nice fare, we're looking at booking something in November and as above am hoping the VA / NH partnership starts before then so can credit to VA. As a bonus these fares include a free NH dom connection in Y but the evening arrival of NH890 probably means a night layover in Tokyo. Likewise back...

    Rydges Sydney Airport

That check in machine is terrible - last month I used it because the human staff were busy and it put us on level 3 when I had booked a runway view room. I waited for a human and she straight up said the machine is cough and does weird stuff. No brekky charge though so probably not machine...

Minimum time for Domestic to International transfer at Sydney - Separate Tickets

I agree with the posts above, you could get lucky but I also wouldn't risk it under 4 hours. A delayed inbound flight could really screw you over. So unfortunately you may have to take that extra day / half day leave for peace of mind. Doing the transfer the other way around a few weeks back...

What's the most obscure airport you've visited?

Been to a few weird ones in the developing world but for some reason TRR seemed to pop into my mind when I saw this thread. TRR - China Bay Airport near Trincomalee in NE Sri Lanka. ~2013, so not too long after the civil war ended and tourism in the Tamil areas was still in its infancy. The Sri...

    Easter Excursion to Noumea

We used this company last November - NewCaledonia AIRPORT SHUTTLE BUS SMITH VOYAGE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE A private car with a baby seat was 10000 XPF from NOU to CBD. Not particularly cheap but not much is in NC. No issues with their service- guy was waiting with a sign and clean van. And in...

Cairns Airport to Cairns CBD - anything cheap available?

Dengue hasn't been a problem up here in recent years thanks to the Wolbachia mozzie program: Establishment of wMel Wolbachia in Aedes... | Gates Open Research We nurtured a few batches of Wolbachia mozzies in our back yard back in 2015, good times! Seems like most reported cases (~1 per day in...

I'm in the VA Lounge thread

Was in VA BNE lounge for a couple of hours Sunday afternoon for the first time in a while. It had a good selection of food - wraps, sandwiches, tandoori chicken salad, tortellini. Even better selection of beer, that is prob my main beef with the BNE QF lounges - their terrible beer selection and...

Cairns Airport to Cairns CBD - anything cheap available?

Sorry no public transport. If HLO and in the daytime, you could walk the two or three km to the main road to get the bus but if you were prepared to do that perhaps just walk the hour or so into the CBD via Lake St/ the Esplanade. There is also an interesting boardwalk off into the mangroves...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF725 currently going from TSV to BNE via HTI to drop off an engineer. Perhaps to help out the delayed QF799?

Virgin Australia - Promo Codes (ongoing)

Perhaps try adding it into the URL manually on the next page (flight selection). Find where it says "&promocode=" and change it to "&promocode=<code>"

Virgin Australia to lease more 737s

Spotted the white NHW in TSV earlier this week too, actually think it was the 2nd. Hopefully these all Y birds disappear soon - I have a couple of VA J flights booked for March and don't like this game. Still going to gamble with it though while VA are charging half the price of QF :p .

Virgin Australia to lease more 737s

Had a BNE - TSV J flight earlier this month downgraded from a 737-800 to an Air North (Alliance?) E190 with no J. Call centre moved me with no fuss to the 737-700 flight a few hours later, luckily one of the ancient ones with J. Seeing the new 700s on CNS routes is a worry, hopefully this is...

Booking as Avis preferred member substantially more expensive !

Coincidentally just completed an 8 day one way DUD to ZQN for a similar rate - $650 or so including ER. Wish I had a hybrid though that petrol price was a killer. Shame we can't share corp codes anymore as I have noticed in the last few years they ask for proof more often than not...

Booking as Avis preferred member substantially more expensive !

Haha strange hey - once we were staying in an AirBNB near Spencer St before an evening flight to PEK and it was way cheaper to rent a car for the day from Avis across the road than to pay for lockers for 4 suitcases plus a taxi/Uber/skybus X 4. We ended up going a bit past MEL for a rail trail...

Booking as Avis preferred member substantially more expensive !

Those prices are both insane with and without your code. I am seeing less than half that with our corp P***** code for intermediate SUV (compact doesn't show up with the code). Man that really shows the crazy gouging going on in the rental car industry at the moment. Although our ancient code...
