Article: The Best International Lounges at Sydney Airport

Qantas First, up to a point and as long as I am WP, then Emirates if my flight departs from that end. I will be able to access Emirates as LTG anytime, in preference to the Qantas business lounge, even if only for an hour or so and despite the long walk.

    QantasLink Dash 8 Guide

Dash-8s are not my preferred choice but "needs-must", mostly with no other option, so I have to make the best of it.

Certainly prefer it to the ATR which Air NZ run.

    QantasLink Dash 8 Guide

I'm not sure how this affects a Dash 8 but as a previous post said, trim and loading can affect a flight, probably more so on small planes. There have been incidents of small planes crashing after take off because of overloading. Recently I flew a 190 trans-Tasman where there were a few empty...

    QantasLink Dash 8 Guide

I'm sure I saw 737 type at WGA, but that was before 2020.

    QantasLink Dash 8 Guide

I'm anticipating a trip to WGA later this year. Looking forward to the 2 1/2 to 3 hours in Wagga.

Another benefit is that there is no seat leg between the seats so you have unobstructed space for feet, bags etc in front of you.

Flown Saab 340 from AMS to SXB. It was a while ago and didn't seem that bad. SYD to Wagga is a Dash 8 on Qantas but I think Rex (or Virgin) do a 737.

    QantasLink Dash 8 Guide

Dash 8, otherwise De Havilland, a well know WW1 aircraft company at the beginning of flying. Developed in Canada, then Boeing, then Bombardier. Have flow may times including 2 hour flights with no entertainment and perhaps a packet of pretzels. The illustrated service is luxurious. It surprised...

Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

This is definitely an AUSTRALIAN frequent flier forum, but then I would struggle to remember the past Governor Generals of New Zealand- as if they had any impact on what goes on. Well done!

    IHG Hotels that recognise status

I am disappointed if I don't get an upgrade at any IHG hotel. The trick is to make sure my loyalty number is in the booking. I always phone ahead to make sure, except at one hotel in Sydney where I am known and stay a lot.

New Adelaide Qantas Club & Business Lounge

As we already know about the new lounge perhaps it is just a matter of asking?

I was upgraded and had access to the club room at the Intercontinental Adelaide. Not every IHG hotel has a club room.

New Adelaide Qantas Club & Business Lounge

Perhaps it's a matter of capacity?

New Adelaide Qantas Club & Business Lounge

Have there been enough WPs entering the lounge to work out the criterion for who goes where, new ex-CL or QP?

Remember, Qantas consider HiVis as a 'uniform', just like armed forces, so is acceptable!

    IHG Hotels that recognise status

There is an IHG hotel in Sydney which more often than not gives me at least a one level upgrade and sometimes to a suite of which there are at least two varieties. (I pay for the cheapest room) One suite has two rooms, double basins, and separate toilet. Another is one long room (the TV looks...

The nearby Holiday Inn express has two power point and a USB socket just above the bedside table, but breakfasts are awful. I've stayed in the IC, CP and the HIE on several occasions but usually one nighters arriving late, so I don't benefit any club functions, where available.

    IHG Hotels that recognise status

I've stayed a few times and can vouch for all that was said. I have been upgraded but usually arrive too late to enjoy the club. One thing to note is that there are no convenient power points near the bed, so you can't charge your phone and have it near you. In some room the TV is off to the...
