Perhaps DOM J are more used to get "on-arrival" pax.? After all you need the status to get on-arrival access, so why go to QP?

I was in the MEL J lounge on Tuesday 6 August 2024 and everything was up and running, though the buffet seemed limited-- no beetroot, but there was mayo.

We should be careful about handing over gifts. Airlines may have various policies about this. Some may have a "no gift" policy, so we could offend by offering it and getting a rejection. Other airlines may permit gifts but they have to be logged. My own company has a policy that all gifts...

It's only bribery if you expect something in return. A small gift, given in good faith, would hardly count.
