Complete newby to this, points + pay

I second saving the points for later in this case too. OP is at that point where they don't have quite enough points yet for good redemptions, but is pretty close. I find that around 250k is where you start getting some really good value redemptions.

Any Upgrade Hope for QF Codeshare on AA?

Ciao Friends! Have a flight coming up, MEL-LAX-JFK. The MEL-LAX is in T (PE) with QF, the LAX-JFK is a QF codeshare operated by AA on their A321T. I have a Y (flex economy) on the LAX-JFK leg. I have no elite status directly with AA, though I can get access to AA miles through purchasing...

I am "almost" completely fed up with Qantas, whats it like on the "Dark side" ?

If you only really fly on the most common routes (e.g. MEL-SYD...etc.) then I'd say VA is really good, but stray away from them and VA just doesn't have the same network that QF does. This is also only for domestic, for international, QF is far better. VA basically have no real international...

Complete newby to this, points + pay

Hard to see how you could get a good redemption. I'd save up a bit more to get to 250k and then use that for a RTW in PE. Almost impossible to find classic reward flights to LHR with Qantas. You could go with Cathay via HK or JAL via Tokyo, but they're more expensive. Probably best bet is to...

VA removing FF numbers from boarding passes

This doesn't really seem to make much sense to me. If someone wants to get into a lounge by using someone else's status (without FF number on the boarding pass) then they could just install the app and log on as that person?

    Contact Centre Madness = Unnacceptable

Always terrible calling Qantas. I almost resort to calling in the middle of the night to avoid wait times. That said, I've always had good service on the phone, with staff always resolving my queries. Their App has a reasonable chat feature, but I always seem to get connected to support staff...

    Qantas Meals on Domestic Economy

Jeez, that doesn't look appealing at all. To be honest, I'd just rather a packed ham and cheese sandwich or something. Yeah, same with me. For my early morning flights, I always try to get 2+ hours in the Club, breakfast is always top notch and it's a good chance to catch up on the news and go...

    Qantas Meals on Domestic Economy

Ciao Friends! Long time lurker, first time poster. Recently switched jobs, old employer uses Virgin for domestic travel, new employer uses Qantas for domestic travel. Based out of MEL, mostly travel MEL-SYD, but also MEL-BNE quite often. On Virgin, I used to get full meals in Economy, but on...
