Can you taste the difference between different winery locations?

Yeah they are different in some cases. For example great southern cool climate Shiraz is more white pepper, high acid and so on. Swan valley fruit forward hotter climate. So on and so on. But producers do change the taste and texture too to suit their style. Early picks, retaining acid over...

Was just reading the Erin Larkin reviews on these. She points out most drinkable now but obviously they are going to be better in years to come. Mentions the Shiraz mataro the one for now “The 2022 Shiraz Mataro is composed of 75% Shiraz and 25% Mataro. Aromatically, this has gathered pace from...

Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Great little old school Bruce Dukes from back a while ago. 2010 was still brimming with acid, fruit and freshness. The finish was long and soft. Cracking wine.. 🍷

Management of crops was challenging in the later part of the season. Some fruit was left on the vines based on the growing difficulties overall. Parcels of the quality fruit was harvested in the reds, depending on location of fruit. Riesling was the pick of the varietals this vintage. On the 24...

Had some absolute gems last night with family.. The 2000 was singing, still a little primary fruit on the nose. 15 as expected a fresh, fruitful beast. And the Gaia was brambles black fruits, chocolate, and some tertiary going on. The 15 Cab, a delightful, fresh but softened tannins. Acid is...

The Prosecco appeals to more people, You could do Riesling as a second white, I’d go a neutral white more like a Pinot gris or a lighter style chardy.

Nice, I had a 16 not long ago. Thought it was really nice. acid, tannin structure was quite high, but fruit was dense, powerful and rich. Seriously young IMO. Just a question, what were you looking for in the wine to wow you? Or why didn’t it at that stage.

That’s right. The 22 conditions were pretty decent in Clare. So retaining freshness and drinkability more so. Ageing capabilities is still evident on these. If you check out Erin Larkins 21 vintage notes vid on You tube. She does talk a little about the 22 season and the 21 direction. I’ve had...

I’m still happy. If you think about our retail from winery.. a 92 point Shiraz is still pretty decent for 75 bucks. Time will tell with some of these in 8-15 years. I’m more of the Shiraz Malbec, and Cabernet styles but would have loved a few of the 24B to compare.

I’ve not had the Rutherglen, yeah a bit lighter than some. Still full flavour intensity though and. A sweetness on the palate which works well with the lime.
