2 weeks relaxing in Asia - suggestions?

Yep, seating decent. Food is good and a few beers and just a good all round short flight. If you get a “bus gate” at SGN you also get a private business class bus and you will be back the terminal and collected your bags before the Y pax even get back to the terminal 🤣 VN domestic flights are...

2 weeks relaxing in Asia - suggestions?

Have stayed at both those properties in Da Nang and 9 nights in Da Nang does seem excessive. The Pullman is ok and a nice place to relax but we have always had great status recognition at the Novotel and it also has a good EL plus a very good breakfast selection.

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

Not sure many will go over to VS. No domestic routes and minimal International routes plus many aren’t interested in SkyTeam. If people want to stay with OW and want the BA perks then they will just have to grin and bear it or look at other OW alternatives. Many will finally realise that being...

Qantas surveying members about spend-based status attainment

Absolutely they could. QF doesn’t make much sense for me personally but plenty of others would definitely be looking into it I’d imagine

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

Obviously you have to do a percentage on BA too but with some decent long haul fares on QR you could possibly get there a bit cheaper. CGK-JFK return in Flex J will get you around 11,000 TP’s for about $14k but yeah still going to be near enough to $30k to retain Gold

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

Yeah, we only fly J I internationally so the only real difference would be losing access to the F lounges but at the end of the day so be it I guess

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

We generally do anyway but it was nice to get a few extras but oh well

BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

Brutal changes especially for those that fly MH, CX and QF in particular. QR and AY get looked after a little better but still not great. Looks like this could be my last year of Gold although I’ll have to crunch my numbers as there probably isn’t many viable alternatives out there

    Australian Cricket Season 2024-2025

Starc is carrying an injury and Head shouldn’t have played this test but a couple more days rest and he should be ok

    Australian Cricket Season 2024-2025

SCG hasn’t taken spin for years. The old SGC deck is long gone. If they did decide to play 2 spinners which I doubt then probably Murphy is next in line.

Christmas markets in Europe and Caribbean cruise (RTW)

Pretty much our thoughts. We aren’t “cruisers” and hate schedules but thought a cruise might be a good introduction to the region but internal flights look quite cheap and I reckon we might just visit 3-4 islands and spend a few days on each. Will also give us an excuse to go back and visit...

Christmas markets in Europe and Caribbean cruise (RTW)

Fantastic TR and really enjoying the in depth commentary and information. We are travelling to the Caribbean in July for the first time and although the cricket tour is my primary goal I’m loving seeing some of the region. Still undecided about a cruise but once the draw is released we can work...

How to Avoid the "tourist tax" (Expensive Accom.) in Switzerland?

The scenic train rides all obviously have great rail links to other towns so there is often cheaper accomodation at the next town for instance and that might only be a few minutes away. Instead of Zermatt you could stay at Brig or Visp which are probably far cheaper.

How to Avoid the "tourist tax" (Expensive Accom.) in Switzerland?

We have stayed at Hotel Soldanella in St Moritz 3 times now and dependent on seasons it fluctuates between about $300-600pn for a lake view room and it’s a lovely place. For Zermatt we love the Hotel Metropol band that’s our usual go to but many hotels in Zermatt have a minimum nights stay...

How to Avoid the "tourist tax" (Expensive Accom.) in Switzerland?

We have travelled Switzerland a bit over the years and yes the accomodation is quite expensive but in places like Zermatt, Wengen, St Moritz etc we just grin and bear it and know that is the price we will pay. For Zurich the airport can often have decent rates and it’s well connected by train...

IHG vs Accor in Europe + Asia

Yeah, it’s a strange one. We get excellent recognition and benefits at most Accor properties in Europe as a Diamond member but I’m generally not impressed with the overall quality available. A real lack of quality and up market hotels across most of Europe. Some gems out there but a stack of...
