I guess the other thing worth considering is how much Gold is worth and whether spending $300+ will get you any benefits. It does seem that Gold offers very little, maybe an upgrade here or there but not a lot else

You haven’t mentioned which city or state you are in but to get the status points you will need to spend around $350-400 or stay 4 nights at a cheap option. You can often find budget properties at $60 per night. You also have the option to buy Accor plus if you aren’t a member already

Yeah, I spoke to my old man on Saturday and they just did theirs again (they go regularly). Was approved no issues in about 3 business days as always.

It’s not for everyone but I don’t mind that they are rewarding frequent flyers rather than the casual flyers. If it thins the lounges out a bit that’s an added bonus 🤣
