Calling for volunteers to take a later flight (and pocket $2,700)

Many years at LA an announcement came over th PA requesting any passengers that would like to not go tonight please come to the service desk. We had 4 seats in Economy. An American sitting near us suggested that if we were not in a hurry check it out but do not take the first offer. Acting on...

    What was your first flight?

My first flight was in a DC3 Essendon to Mildura as an unaccompanied youth. Like others my biggest memory of this flight was how steep it was walking up the aisle to my seat. First International flight was in the 60's to London and on the return, via Morocco, we were "enhanced" in Rome by Qantas...

    Carry-on boarding etiquette

It appears to me that etiquette and boarding passenger is an oxymoron. I also wonder about the prize for being first to deboard.

Points transfers have not as yet resumed so I would not expect the "Event" to occur unless it will be an explanation on how to transfer points to SIA !

    Qantas brand badly tarnished

Looking at the similar threads listed at the end of this one it seems Qantas recognised they had problems years ago. A lot of their current problems are caused by covid issues but it is obvious from most posts that they are not handling it well. Our first International flight, many many years...

Headphones - time for a new pair

Recently replaced my QC 15 bose. After a great deal of research I purchased the QC 45. I went to JB and tried them all. The Sony and the Bose are very similar but my decision was made from the fit. I tested them with the noise cancelling turned off and the Bose filtered more ambient sounds. I...

Article: Europe Doesn’t Recognise Australian Vaccination Certificates

On a trip to France a few weeks ago the only time we had to produce a Vax Certificate was on departure (and arrival ) from Australia.

Reasonably priced car rental in Europe

I was able to rent, last week, a vehicle at CDG at nearly half the going rate via Auto Europe. In fact it was so cheap I thought it might be a mistake. EUR460 for 7 days. It was an automatic SUV from Avis.

What happens if you catch COVID whilst overseas?

Before having a PCR test in Milan, prior to returning to Australia, we had to nominate a "Covid" Hotel in case we tested positive. The Clinic gave us a list of Hotels to choose from. As we did our own tests before going to the clinic we were not concerned. I asked the test operator how many...

Supervised RAT Test for Entry to Australia

It appears that the information I received from the local Public Hospital (see my post 13 ) was incorrect. When I questioned them about their advice I was assured that we could do it at home. In fact they gave us a couple of RAT tests to take with us. As only positive tests must be reported and...

Supervised RAT Test for Entry to Australia

It seems to me that the rules change frequently. As an example on the 21st Feb a new passenger arrival form was issued. We were required last week to fill this extensive form out, before arrival, and submit on the internet. When we arrived, late last week in Bne, we had to fill out another one...

Supervised RAT Test for Entry to Australia

I should have advised that when we returned home the local Public Hospital told us we could do a RAT test at home, photograph the result with ID and the date. It was not necessary to have a "Proffesional" test.

Supervised RAT Test for Entry to Australia

Last week we had supervised RAT test in Milan from an authorised testing station in the Milan Malpensa Airport. The test was in and out in 5 minutes. Research shows that many Airports have such a facility. On arrival into Milan we had a test in another facility at the Airport. There were 3...
