    Strategy to obtain US Amex

For those who don’t have the time/ability to churn cards regularly for SUB, but are still able to rack up decent spending in Aus using their US Amex… Have you found the US cards still worthwhile in terms of accumulating MR, after accounting for losses in forex when paying off the card ? Is it...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Has anyone seen a lower rate than 1.99% (+GST) for Amex ATO payments under $100k that Sniip offers ?

Good J prices: EY MNL-Europe rtn

Just how bad is Cebu Pacific ? Are we talking no shows / random cancellations like Jetstar, or just super no frills ?

Good J prices: EY MNL-Europe rtn

Sorry yes got caught out by the MYR - assumed it was $ :) That’s great for the KUL-SYD leg. Any tips on how to cover the SYD - KUL leg ? That comes up as $2k AUD for me…

Good J prices: EY MNL-Europe rtn

I’m seeing $2k each way for J if I leave in December and return in Jan… where are you seeing these deals ?!

Good J prices: EY MNL-Europe rtn

Thanks for this SYD-MNL-SYD flights are stupidly expensive over Dec/Jan, and not sure when (if ever) they release reward flights… Any similar hotel recommendations if flying out of KUL or CGK ?

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

So if I I’m telling them I’m moving countries hence please send me a US card (I presume this is the rationale behind the GT program to begin with), Amex doesn’t ask questions if I do this multiple times from the same origin country over 1-2 years ?! I was chatting about this to one of my...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

The Explorer at 2 MR is even simpler I guess... I'll keep an eye out for a bigger SUB; 150k seems to be a regular offering, but they did do 240k in 2021

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks, that's very helpful I've read that Google Voice, TextNow, Talkatone all have varying success... is anyone aware of a US prepaid SIM or eSIM similar to what you can get here with Aldimobile (eg PAYG 365 day expiry, rather than a monthly fee) ?

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks @_TheTraveller_ Amex it is ! Even with the eg 275k sign up bonus going on at the moment with Platinum, I’m not going to use the hotel award, and will not actively look for restaurants covered in the restaurant award, so struggled to see the value given the massive AF My thinking with...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Hi all I've trawled through nearly 6000+ posts on this thread - what an odyssey ! Hoping for some advice on my situation; please correct me if I've misunderstood or missed anything from what I've read My situation: - hoping to accumulate points to transfer into Aeroplan (have HSBC SA card...

Good J prices: EY MNL-Europe rtn

Ok a few more questions for the MNL Europe frequenters… 1. I’ve read bad things about Emirates J 777; is an Etihad J 777 on the AUH-MNL leg bad as well ? 2. For long-ish (eg 8h) layovers overnight in AUH, is whatever lounge Etihad J gives you access to a reasonable option, or are they...

Aeroplan (Air Canada) is now selling points

Do you mean choose a fee free US card ? Is there any downside to getting one of the big points Aus offers first, then transfer to a US card before the second year’s fee is due ?

For those who do this frequently... If the MNL->Europe flight is in the evening, is an AM arrival on non-Jetstar SYD-MNL ok, or would you generally arrive a full 24h before the Europe leg regardless ? Also, any other recommendations for places close to the airport in Manila ?

Aeroplan (Air Canada) is now selling points

Is this or a CA Amex possible if you live in Aus ?? Wouldn’t you also get stung with all sorts of currency conversion fees ?

Aeroplan (Air Canada) is now selling points

So AmEx has a 275k sign up bonus for the platinum card at the moment... Still struggling to swallow the $1450 annual fee when KrisFlyer is 3:1, Bonvoy is 3:2 (then some other poor ratio to get into AC)... Does Amex let you convert MR to Accor ? That conversion is only 2:1...

Aeroplan (Air Canada) is now selling points

Is there a way to just search for base award flights ? When I select 'use my points', I appear to get dynamic pricing (points) only... though I guess it's possible there are no award flights for the regions/dates I'm looking at

Aeroplan (Air Canada) is now selling points

It looks like earning Avios in Aus is limited to Amex -> Bonvoy -> Avios ??

Aeroplan (Air Canada) is now selling points

Thanks @luxury-lizard that's very helpful I think I'll use AC, and keep an eye out for the next 100-110% bonus offer; current one appears to be 85% max
