Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

The ABC article I read suggested that the QLD government wants other states to chip in too. However, I would guess QLD will pay the bulk as they want to secure Brisbane as the HQ for VA. Interesting times. I had a feeling the Chinese would buy VA (not sure how much) as they're one of the few...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

That's what I was thinking. Some are suggesting VA shouldn't be bailed out because they financially mismanaged themselves (cough don't forget Covid-19). However, how many of these people are or will be receiving money from the government to support them over the next half year or more? Maybe...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

*Bangs head against table* - and this is the same stupid Aussie public that loves to travel? Maybe the entire domestic airline industry should collapse to give them a reality check then. Wait for them to start saying 'Why didn't the government do anything to support the industry'? Muppets.

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

What a pack of morons. If it wasn't for Covid-19 then VA wouldn't be asking for a $1.4 billion low interest loan from the government. I can guarantee these muppets would be the fist to complain when airfares go up and routes axed etc if Qantas becomes a monopoly. As for people persuming VA is...

Keep Virgin Australia in the Skies

So it looks Tiger is no more. However, I wonder if VA will morph into more of a no thrills airline somewhere between Qantas and Jetstar. Similar to Virgin Blue. I also wonder if they will cut international all together and concentrate on what was the profitable domestic market. I clearly don't...

Keep Virgin Australia in the Skies

Qantas domestic is the most profitable side of the Qantas business. If domestic travel is opened up in the next few months then this will help Qantas survive until frequent international services resume, which could be more than a year away. Domestic services would also be VA's most profitable...

Keep Virgin Australia in the Skies

The federal government needs to take action in some form to save the domestic airline industry, otherwise it will cause huge losses in the domestic tourism industry just when it will try to be getting back on it's feet. The federal government has a duty to protect the the transport and tourism...

VA reward seats no longer available to book

It's unpreditcable times at the moment. I wouldn't take it as a 100% sign they're about to shutdown VA. And if they were why would they pull reward seats from being on offer, but still allow consumers to pay with money? If anything they want consumers to pay with money right now.

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

It's wishful thinking to think that international travel will be even partially open by the 4th quarter. However, I can foresee domestic travel opening up again within the next 6 months. So at least VA and Qantas will have income trickling in again which is something many other airlines around...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

It sounds like you would prefer they collapse and in turn make a local tourism rebound even more difficult. It's difficult times, not even VA could foresee this forcast 6 months ago. If this mess goes on for a year then Qantas will be in a very similar situation to what VA is in now, what then...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Apart from sites like this one. I can't see any reports in the mainstream media in regards to the Velocity points panic? Frankly, that's a good thing, last thing VA needs is more people following the herd. Maybe the mainstream media are being responsible, highly unlikely. If most people cash in...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Huh ok, crikey, I don't recall seeing that in the news about Velocity being bought back. I can only recall last year news stories about it being sold off. Anyway I did a search for confirmation. There is still a chance they could sell off the program. Seems like the purchase back of Velocity was...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

I don't think a rename will occur unless Virgin sells off it's share in the company (roughly 10% from memory). Virgin is a strong international brand and if VA does survive they wont want to be spending money on rebranding.

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

I have 80K Velocity points now due to using 120K points late last year. I will take the risk and leave the 80K in there. I can understand people panicking about loosing points and either transferring or redeeming them. However, it's just going to make the situation at VA worse and we don't want...

    Bye bye eBay

I'm an ebay plus member and didn't receive a free offer. I think people who either are not members or about to renew their membership may receive a free year as an incentive to potentially sign up to ebay plus in the future. Going by other posts in this thread the free membership doesn't appear...

    Bye bye eBay

It's a shame to see this come to an end. It was always good to get additional points in conjunction with the use of Velocity or Qantas e-store portals for ebay shopping. I imagine ebay didn't see the value in paying the points to people, especially now that sales will drop off due to a global...

    Bye Bye BP ...

Mobil is uinlikely to partner with Velocity due to 7-Eleven. Remember Velocity and FlyBuys have a partnership which involves people shopping at Coles Express. I think United Petroleum may be the only option for Velocity if they want a direct petrol station partner. Shell Coles Express petrol...

Wilson Parking ending relationship with Velocity May 30th

Hahaha, maybe not that far. Looks like nothing I can do just pissed off as it's not my fault. Another case of Wilson being very poor at customer service. The only thing I can od in fact is avoid Wilson parking as much as possible and use Secure. If Wilson wont as much as respond to my support...

Wilson Parking ending relationship with Velocity May 30th

Anybody else not receive their entitled points from their May invoice? Wilson have been ignoring my support requests and Velocity said retro claims should be made through to Wilson Parking on or before the 30 June 2019. A poor response from Velocity considering the points should have been...

Wilson Parking ending relationship with Velocity May 30th

Interesting, I always get my points sent to me each month, no big delay in receiving them. Not sure what is going on with xmas promo you were part of though... The problem with reward points is that the points allocation is often a manual process for the company offering points as an incentive...
