Thanks all, the contact centre quoted me 6700 points plus $77 over the phone change fee, and then suggested I just voluntarily forfeit my SYD - MEL flight and ask to tag my bags to Sydney at HK, collect them at Sydney and book a seperate flight to MEL.

Currently waiting for a call back from the contact centre and awaiting reply from the sms service but i reckon the members on here are probably more knowledgeable... I've got HK-MEL reward booking transiting through SYD i.e. different flight #. I want to find out if I can push my domestic...
