Can see my thoughts on first flights here: https://www.ski.com.au/xf/threads/juneyao-airlines.95440/#post-5847460

Much friendlier times than JQ on that route!

The Virgin Australia Newbie Questions Thread

On domestic with minimal bags checked these days I don’t really see any benefit to priority anyway. They usually dump all bags on at one time anyway.

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

I don’t get why it is such a cough lounge. Labour is cheap. Good local food is cheap to produce. It would be so easy to make it decent for very minimal cost.

The Virgin Australia Newbie Questions Thread

If on same booking, all treated same as highest status holder. I.e. access to seat selection is a per highest status holder on the booking, and all bags get tagged priority, not that it makes a difference!

Will Qantas Ever Fly To China Again?

Juneyao have just started flights in to MEL and SYD from PVG. We are flying them in January from SYD-PVG-KIX return in January to go skiing, $740 a ticket return per person for a family of four was too hard to turn down when all other carriers to Japan were pretty much $2k a ticket when I booked...

Virgin Australia flights to Doha now on sale

This is normal, as on partner airlines I don't think they release award seats on their codeshare number. For example SYD-SFO on UA, no one is obviously going to book the VA codeshare reward seat (which is essentially points paying for a cash fare).

SkyBus gone up again [Up to $23.90 one way]

Yea there is often a lag in the app, in that the most recently used ticket might still show as available when it has been used. Refreshes on a reopen of the app.

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

VA804 this morning in row 3, leg room is way less for row 3 than what I am used to. No divider to business class, but feels like standard economy X legroom in row 3 to the business class seats in front, where on other aircraft you end up with nearly 3 windows!

    Japanese Yen - Cash

Do not get cash in Australia. I’ll be there in January and will use my Macquarie fee free debit card to withdraw cash from Airport on arrival.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

This doesn’t benefit the weekly MEL-SYD flyer. I am one. And would earn less SC’s on my current booking patterns under the new system averaging approx $125 a choice fare over 90 odd sectors this year. It will benefit the MEL-SYD flyer who pays $300 for a choice fare who now gets 25SC vs 15SC...

    Qantas’ Hidden Standby

Yea this is true unfortunately on VA. Just last week I specifically asked gate agent if I could wait until end of boarding to see if any no shows on full flight. No go, she said she had closed the book.

Have Virgin cancelled the 'Fly Ahead' benefit again?

Good for the airlines when they can get last minutes tickets at $800+ a ticket!

Velocity Business Rewards seats sold that don't exist...

Vast majority of the flying public don’t understand this. The need for a ticket number. If they receive a ‘confirmed booking’ email with the 6 letter PNR they think that is it.

Have Virgin cancelled the 'Fly Ahead' benefit again?

Flights on SYD-MEL-SYD seriously packed at the moment. Impossible to fly ahead at all today on MEL-SYD, literally zero seats, so was a long stay at the airport from 3:30pm until the 9pm flight!

SkyBus gone up again [Up to $23.90 one way]

Does this method purchasing on Agoda give you a QR code can use on your phone to get on the bus? Don't have to print off hopefully?

SkyBus gone up again [Up to $23.90 one way]

Does this method just give you a QR code can use on your phone to get on the bus? Assume the returns are open ended. I.e. direction doesn't matter? Could use a return ticket for 2 x separate MEL-City trips?

    FIFO - general discussion

Yes 5/2. Monday to Friday. All flights paid for from MEL. It was essentially a fixed weekly contract rate, but yea effectively all my time paid for as that was accounted in to the rate. Second contract was 9/5, which although missed every second weekend, was much more sustainable it felt. Though...

    FIFO - general discussion

Did FIFO for approx. 2 years, based in Melbourne travelling to/from Olympic Dam. So needed 2 flights each way. Two different contracts. One was Mon-Fri, the other 9-5. Mon-Fri was draining. Leave home at 5am, arrive about 11:30am and straight to work until 6pm. Then 6am-6pm every day, breath...

Virgin 737-8 Max Business Class - No Divider

I don’t fly many business sectors each year (2-3) but fly a lot of sectors in rows 3-4 (80+) and I pretty much never use the toilet, so it is actually a downgrade of the experience in row 3/4 as well with people trying to use the front lav as well. Virgin have completely missed the mark here...
