Widening the freeway rarely if ever actually makes the journey quicker...it's a false economy, it still bottle necks at the City. Speed limit used to be 100km/hr, now always 80km/hr.

They might have some decent bookings over the busy Christmas/Jan period, so would have been more costly to try and reaccommodate everyone. Probably a balance of costs to do that, vs costs to keep running the route until then.

Whilst the seats might be the same, I find the biggest issue with narrow body flights is the 160 economy passengers having one aisle to get to the lavs at the back of the aircraft.
