Seat Allocations on flights with stops

Don't assume that someone "special" has trumped your seat allocation. As I have discussed on another thread, I often have my selected seats get changed for no obvious reason, but by phoning again get them reallocated. This has happened twice for next weeks MEL-SIN-FRA-SIN-MEL flights. I just...

Platinum requesting seats on int flight

Its annoying when I manage to pick it up and get the seats reallocated :-|. Its a real pain the #$$ when I get to checkin and find I have lost my seat  .

Seat Allocations on flights with stops

I understand, I was simply trying to illustrate that it is not uncommon for someone only taking the second half of the QF5 flight to still get their preferred seat.

Platinum requesting seats on int flight

Yes, this was mentioned by Qantas. I have checked with my TA and they assure me they do not do anything re seating. This seems correct, especially when I see some of the seating that does get allocated after I lose my treasured seat. It can range from 12B to 30K, so I don't think it is...

Seat Allocations on flights with stops

I often fly MEL - SIN - FRA, on QF9 then 5 (which I gather is the SYD - FRA flight you refer to). I always have my favourite seats allocated for each leg, so I gather its just a matter of getting in early enough, before another 'status pax' takes it all the way through from SYD - FRA.

Platinum requesting seats on int flight

Just a word of caution. Once the seating is allocated and shows on your booking, don't assume it is final. I always request seat 16A/k (upstairs exit row) for my flights and am almost always granted my request with the requested seats showing on my booking. However, on every occasion, at some...

Couple of questions re Qantas Club Lounge

Thanks for the clarification (I don't ever remember being in Syd QP at those times). That is certainly a better situation for Beardoc.

Couple of questions re Qantas Club Lounge

I think by 10am the breakfast goodies will be gone, which is a pity as it is the best food offerings they have. I think you will have a very limited choice available, with probably just small rolls and cold meat/cheese etc to put in it, and a few biscuits etc. If you are hungry, it may be...

Jet Lag - Travel East or West

Yes, not a very good guess really was it. Knew there was a reason I always fly.

Jet Lag - Travel East or West

I believe "jetlag" is a bit of a misnomer. It has nothing to do with the actual jet travel (except if flying whY and not being able to sleep :( ). The issue is more to do with the difference in timezones, and the time taken to reset your bodyclock. The reason it was termed "jetlag" is...

    Good or Bad credit rating?

The Wizard Clear Advantage is a good card when travelling, so it is worthwhile persisting. I would suggest you ring them and ask why they have declined your application. It may be that you can explain your situation better in a conversation. It may not change anything, but is worth a try.

    Express Path Immigration and Quarantine

Congratulations Qantas, the benefits provided to premium pax recently (express immigration line, upgraded Flounges, enhanced F check-in etc) are great :) . It is these types of benefits that make premium pax feel like they are actually valued. Its always nice to feel like you are being given...

Lifetime Silver/Gold - Shortest time to reach

Joined QP in 96 before I did ATW J class trip, but then did no real travel after that until mid 2002. I now do 2-3 J class trips to either Europe or NA per year, and a bit of domestic travel in Y. Hit LTS in 2005 (IIRC), which was totally underwhelming. Currently sit on just under 10K SCs...

If that is the case, then surely QF5/6 should also be on the list?

Has The Qclub Lounge Opened In Lax Tbit

I was there last week, and the QF check-in staff believed November was the latest completion date being discussed. As I am back through there on 22/11, I hope it is prior to then. One good thing though, they provided access to the interim lounge to me (WP) and 3 zero status family members...

Couple of questions re Qantas Club Lounge

I agree this is a good decision. The breakfast is really quite good, offering a good range, including eggs benedict etc. Also, that glass of Moet or Veuve is sublime with breakfast :D .

    DisneyLand or DisneyWorld

I have just returned from a family holiday to LA/SF/LV/Grabd Canyon, it was great. Regarding the cable car queues, we got some very good advice from a local, that worked a treat. The queue at the terminus was really long, so we just walked about 200m to the next stop, and we were the only...

    Retaining Platinum

A number of years ago I was comp'd to retain WP, after providing them a list of my proposed travel plans for the following year. As it turns out, I did not do as much travel the next year as proposed, and so did not earn the required SC to retain the WP. However, my WP status was not...
