    Bonza Airline Discussion

No one is supporting 777 Partners. That's simply not happening. Australians are rallying behind the people caught up in this, the employees, the customers. There's no reason for you to paint this as some sort of battle between people's sympathy for Bonza and their sentiments towards Qantas...

    Bonza Airline Discussion

To state the obvious, Qantas is not the victim here. I don't really understand why you feel the need to constantly play the victim card on their behalf. You're not doing Qantas any favours, just painting them as enfeebled and embattled. Things will get untangled with Bonza's administration with...

    Bonza Airline Discussion

What I find quite frustrating looking at all this is that even if you have travel insurance you're not covered. Every plan I've looked at excludes "insolvency" or "financial default" of a travel provider. It definitely didn't used to be this way, when Air Australia collapsed more than a decade...

    Qantas App issues?

Typically of Qantas these days they seem to figure that there's no problem that can't be solved by some marketing. They'll trot out the children's choir, say "national carrier" (whatever that means) a few times and in their minds it'll all be good. 🎶 Someday, our data, will all be together once...

Virgin Australia applied for ADL/OOL-PER-DPS. Failed due International Terminal Requirement

QF Group was always starting from behind with this one, it's own submission acknowledges that it currently has 54.8% of the seats allocated between Australia and Indonesia, and the next nearest is Virgin with just 14.7%. (During the 12 months ending Sept. 2023) Solidifying their dominance would...

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

There's some stuff there I wouldn't even describe as a benefit, more like a standard service you'd expect of these thing. Stuff like "customer service and fraud support" or "booking via AmEx Travel Online portal". Of course you'd expect a credit card to come with fraud support and a travel...

    Bonza Airline Discussion

We'll see what comes out during the administration but, while we're focussing a lot on the business model, I suspect a lot of this has to do with the various shenanigans of their parent company, rather than a fundamental flaw in the way they were doing business. Though obviously not every...

    Qantas App issues?

I'll add this to the list of reasons I still prefer a paper boarding pass. Imagine being about to board your flight and discovering the app was now displaying a totally different boarding pass!

    Bonza Airline Discussion

I don't know that it is perfectly legal. The whole point of a business going into Administration is to protect it from its creditors and ensure either a restructure or orderly liquidation, to prevent a creditor free-for-all where they're all grabbing at anything that isn't nailed down.

That's a very generous offer from Virgin. Might help reduce the stress of the situation for stranded passengers. It's got to be especially difficult because most travel insurance these days excludes insolvency of a provider.

    QantasLink Fleet Reshuffle

A few other people have already mentioned the noise and vibration, as well as feeling the turbulence much more due to their small size and light weight. I'll add that they're also quite cramped, especially if you're even a bit tall or broad, even if you are only in it for an hour or so. There's...

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

I did get a survey, but for some reason whenever I get surveys from AmEx it's about the Platinum Reserve card, which I barely use. No questions about fees but a lot of questions about which other cards I use and why. As always I mentioned the foreign exchange fees as a big reason when I direct...

    QantasLink Fleet Reshuffle

Definitely would be, but I can't see that happening. Virgin tried that route with an all-jet fleet and it didn't work out. There's a handful of 717 flights between CBR-SYD but they seem to mostly be a relocation flight that happens to carry passengers. The key driver on that route is frequency...

    Ola closing down in Australia

I've just got mine set up with Location and Notifications allowed. There's other permission (such as camera for scanning QR codes, Phone for calling the driver etc.) but they aren't needed for the app to work.

Velocity Frequent Flyer launches partnership with DiDi

Are you in Australia at the moment? It might not be available to set it up unless you are. 1713828230 I've always had way more problems with rideshare services in Melbourne than in any other city. I dunno what it is there but they all the drivers just seem very unreliable.

    Qantas to resume Sapporo flights?

Probably just to rub it in and to make sure you know you'll have to fly with someone else. 😂

    Qantas to resume Sapporo flights?

Seems to have worked pretty well for them domestically. Looking at the BITRE stats, Qantas only operates around 40% of QF coded domestic flights, the rest being outsourced to the various Qantaslink airlines. If the arrangement with Finnair works out for them, we may see the current domestic...
