    Car finance and Credit Card

My only experience was that I was asked, by the finance co, to reduce my available credit. Since I never used the total $70k odd credit, I didn't mind. Car finance was $50k. All this 10 years ago. My income was probably reported as about $100k. Never been asked to drop a card, however.

Australia's credit card debt accruing interest is staggering $18 billion

I can't see the problem. She borrowed money against her house. We pay it back on selling the house. I can't see why it shouldn't be repaid.

Australia's credit card debt accruing interest is staggering $18 billion

Why is this such a problem for you? My late mother took one out, and it paid for several years of full-time care at home, where she wanted to stay. A perfectly legitimate borrowing situation.

Unable to select seats VA booking- Asking for EMail.

I'd I'd love for this to be true. Unfortunately, my booking just states A350 900, and there are 3 types. I wasn't able to select a seat through the web or app, anyway. Had to call Singapore. 1694159239 That's useful, thanks. I wish the website would have this information, but it doesn't.

Unable to select seats VA booking- Asking for EMail.

Well, I just looked, and I can't determine which plane is used for my flight, unlike the guru. In addition, all business class seats are shown as not staggered, which isn't born out by all the photos I've seen of the A350. I'm still not sure. I'll find out on the day, I guess.

Australia's credit card debt accruing interest is staggering $18 billion

Too right, no sympathy at all. My uk bank keeps offering me a loan. When I ask for an offer, it's at 30%! Because I have no credit history there now, but still, I've never had a default for 40 years. I'm actually playing CC debt myself right now, waiting for a payout and no chance of credit...

Unable to select seats VA booking- Asking for EMail.

I had a problem with SQ seat selection, via web and through their app. I ended up calling, utterly useless. Finally got a number in Singapore to call, they sorted it for me. Be aware, though, for business class seats, Singapore themselves can't see the staggered pairs of seats, so offered us a...

    Driving Netherlands and Belgium

I've never been asked for one. Having said that, I've never had a reason to be asked. I've never had an international driving licence as such, although I still have my old uk 'European' version licence from many, many moons ago.

    Sending money overseas

I used to use OFX, but have taken advice from this forum, and tried Wise. It is a far more comprehensive product, allowing me to have multiple currency accounts and a debit card (using any currency). The exchange rate is typically 0.5% over the spot rate for small transactions, lower for large...

Singapore A350 Business Class Seat Map

I had a similar problem booking two seats on the 350. The website and app wouldn't let me. I phoned Singapore, and they tried to assign us two seats separated by the tables etc. They themselves couldn't tell that they were staggered seats, so only each second row was actually 'together' with the...

    The Midlife Crisis thread

Well, my 'mid-life' 'crisis' is actually neither. It's not mid-life, me being late 50s, and it's not a crisis of any kind! Basically, I was sort of forced to retire early, but I'm now enjoying the gifts that our late parents have generously bestowed on us children, and what I've made myself, to...

Royal Brunei - Business class dress code?

We used to fly regularly with RB (until Brunei adopted Sharia Law). We never had any issues with clothing, including jeans.

Wheelchair experience at MEL, SIN & LHR?

No, just taking my wife to a car in the car park. He was a grumpy sod, anyway. Most are really pleasant.

Wheelchair experience at MEL, SIN & LHR?

I have found Heathrow to be the very worst of all. Do leave plenty of time for departure and even arrival. Sitting about is common. I have even had one who wanted a tip, and got quite grumpy when I ignored the attempt. They will normally take you to the car park. I'm not sure where the hotel...

    AMEX FOREX Closing

From advice on here, I've been using Wise (formerly Transfer Wise). They are quick and fairly well-priced, being about 0.5% over spot price. They also have multi-currency accounts, and a debit card that uses the best available currency. If you are a UK citizen, you get to invest in a Blackrock...

What do you do with the amenity kit?

I use what I need, which is typically very little. I then take it home and leave in my bathroom for guests to use.

Best way to roam these days in England and Italy

An eSIM is for calls and data. It has the same function as a physical sim. You normally get a local phone number too. Some phones will be able to use both. Mine does. To do this, it must have dual sim capabilities, ie two sets of radios. It uses more batteries, even when idle. Yes, if you...

    12:00am departure

It should not be confusing. I know that some people get confused, so 11:59pm or 12:01am are often used, but the reality is that the last possible time on any date is 11:59pm. Would 00:00 make it clearer, perhaps? I thought most flight times are in 24h.

    French long-term visas

Yes, the details are sometimes vague. It's a problem for Schengen because they have a blanket rule, but individual states have previous agreements that they still honour. It's a bit of a bureaucratic mess. Basically, it's typically that you can stay an extra 90 days in that particular country...
