Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

It was a last minute bump 1 day out from the flight due to a Qantas staff member taking those seats. So got the ORC where I booked SYD-ADL-DRW entirely in J.

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Apologies, you are correct so its 224 SCs in total and Alliance Airlines flights on QF codes count for DSC. Got bumped down to Economy but called the QFF Service Centre and they allowed me to earn the Biz Classic rewards status credits, so it does work. So even if booked as a reward you will...

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Seems like CR availability to Darwin even in peak season is okay. But the accommodation prices in Jun-Aug... eye-watering stuff. Can get 244 status credits in DSC if you book SYD-ADL-DRW-ADL-SYD though, which isnt bad for 83k points. Havent found a good status earner ex-SYD so far, looks like...

    New Amex statement credits

Used the Hilton offer successfully last time around - Booked on the Hilton website as normal, in the special request box I say that I want to pay the room rate using the eftpos terminal. Got the HH points and nights as usual, credited the cashback in 5 days.

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Also a good CX deal for ICN-HKG-SIN, around $1200 return or so. Lots of dates available. ICN-HKG is 60 SC and HKG-SIN is 80 SC. Lots of competition on that route so understandable it might be cheaper. Edit: nvm wrong class for the search

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Anyone else here ever received an upgrade offer yet (e.g. Surpass to Aspire or from Gold to Platinum)? Anticipating going from No Fee to Surpass if it ever comes this year.

    WSI for Western Sydney Airport

Obviously the best case scenario would be the ability to easily change at Glenfield from WSI and then onto the city via East Hills, Sydney Airport and then the City using the express tracks. Would still take about an hour to the city. Seems like the St Mary's-Macarthur metro is the most likely...

How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Dang London hotels are really that expensive, eventually paying almost 400 AUD a night. Even Hampton Inns are 350 AUD in London... Might as well take a 30 minute train ride to London and back if I ever go there haha

Article: Only 17% of Ansett Global Rewards Members Feared of Airline Bankruptcy

Lifetime Golden Wing all for $400, must have been a ripper deal back then without the hindsight of knowing they were going to go bust... Ofc $400 was seen as more expensive back then compared to now

Article: Only 17% of Ansett Global Rewards Members Feared of Airline Bankruptcy

This was well before my time, I only knew of Ansett when it was a sponsor of the 2000 Olympics. Looks like there were interesting stories about Ansett well before it went bust. Sounds like Diners was a decently known card provider back then as well. RTW bookings with Golden Wing points the hard...

    WSI for Western Sydney Airport

I also wouldn't be surprised if some company sets up a regular bus service from the airport to a bus stop around Central station using the M12 and then onto the M5-M1. No traffic lights. Though it could be a mare around peak hour.

Credit Card Offers Bankwest Qantas Platinum: 50,000 bonus Qantas Points

Looks like the big Qantas World Mastercard bonus points offer is just a one-off at this point (that was in 2019). Doesn't appear to show up anytime soon. Must have cost them a lot during that period.

    WSI for Western Sydney Airport

Maybe they know which airlines have already signed up to go to WSI but won't reveal it yet. LCCs as a start, would be pleasantly surprised if the big airlines have expressed their interest by now.

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Based on the Qantas Status Credit Calculator SYD-ICN or SYD-SGN would earn 250 SCs return while CNS-NRT would earn 260 SCs. Need to buy the Max bundle ofc. Best fare I could find for ICN would be about $2000 for June and for SGN would be about $1720 in August. YMMV.
