They see it every time. Occasionally they take a good look. Every major and a few minor airports in Australia and New Zealand.

For my work I carry a 150 mm steel rule, and it gets through security. It has a narrower edge than the knives.

It had crossed my mind. The plastic knives are sharper.

I think it goes beyond just dull. I think they have been deliberately ground down. You can see a flat surface along the edge. But you know what they say about the secret of a good steakhouse---sharp knives.

Seeing we are on the subject of food, have you noticed that the knives in the lounges are blunt. Not just blunt but almost as if the edges had been ground flat. They won't even cut the beetroot slices!

No mention. Why did UK start the no empty bottles, then allowed them? I never have had any trouble taking empty bottles to Australia from NZ.

Remember they have to abide by American rules for international. Blame the TSA. Powders may also be restricted.

At WLG INT there is a bin, just before the conveyor, into which you can dispose of liquids. And WLG INT does not have secondary screening when departing for Australia.
