Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Any good deals on the burgs from any of the three sites @qaz? Am definitely a beginner here but would like to begin building up a collection.

You must've been the one to out-of-stock the Krug! Grrrrr 😅

Appreciate the great find mate - picked up a case myself (albeit without the extra discount) $36.67 a bottle. Very happy with that.

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

If you're in Sydney, there's a showroom at the end of Pitt St Mall opposite the Tiffany. Happened to walk past it yesterday. Interesting place for a showroom!

Looks like the code got canned - invalid code at checkout. Probably all the people abusing the Grange & Krug 6-packs ;)

    Interesting Amex to velocity transfer

This seems like a really easy bar to hit for people funneling through regular business expenses... [Case in point: me, someone who isn't even trying post-deval]

    Advice on champagne

Great minds think alike @Cruiser Elite - literally our Vday tipple as well! As an aside, interesting to note the minor differences in our two bottles (the order of the words, and the inclusion of a fancy 'millesime' ring at the neck being some).

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I drive a Tesla Model S P100D (2018). Not gonna repeat @33kft's useful information here. Suffice it to say, approaching EVs with an ICE mindset is going to lead to some useful comparisons and many not-so-useful ones (mainly around 'fuelling' and maintenance/upkeep). Outside of specialist uses...

    RewardPay Alternatives

Back when I had the Explorer I regularly put it into credit of >$80k with zero issues whatsoever.

    RewardPay Alternatives

Yes. We had a 7-figure tax bill awhile back and you'd better believe I did not want to waste my time doing 100+ payments with a $15k limit card haha. The points all pay out - have confirmed this with multiple CCs, Amex included. Yes to your second question also, but these days I question the...

Qantas FF announcement 20 June - "biggest overhaul" in program history

I did some dummy searches as a lowly NB and I'm getting at least 2 seats in F on Dec 11, 13 and 14. Not sure if that's normal (I've never really searched the route), but given the notorious difficulty of SYD LAX, this seems pretty good.

    Everest Base Camp (Luxury Escapes)

Thanks for your response! AMS does seem to be the limiting factor, though it's also luck of the draw. Won't deter me when I actually do attempt it. I was originally going to go late 2020, but I might have to defer till around 2022 as I intend to go back to uni. But I'll definitely keep your...

1 million points on Bronze, hardly able to redeem intl tickets

Yep, add me as another data point that vouches for their J product (more hard than soft, but soft was okay too). Would definitely fly again.

    Valuing points for international flights

You must have been looking at Qantas' prices for 'Any Seat' awards, with points prices tied to the actual cash price of the ticket. This will be expensive (with the small ancillary benefit that you still earn status credits and a token amount of points). What you're looking for are the prices...

    Bringing food back into Australia

Sweets are generally okay as they are considered to be 'processed' and 'well-wrapped'. I've probably brought in literally over a ton of foodstuffs back to AU over the years. This even includes meat products - which are vacuum-sealed. Confectionary will be fine provided it is sealed. Just...

    Qantas Wine latest offering

Ordered Tuesday early afternoon and arrived before 9am on Wednesday morning. All four bottles!

1 million points on Bronze, hardly able to redeem intl tickets

For something like MEL -> LAX, which is a very premium route, I would hazard a guess that QC would improve your chances only marginally, such that the money you'd spend on QC (presuming you can't derive much value out of it without improving your chances of an upgrade) would not be worth it.
