Had the same or similar issue recently and if you go to the BA App it now shows eticket numbers so you should be able to check if BA show the current and correct eticket
There’s an exception with an award ticket connecting onto a one world carrier that allows for checked baggage in this instance from MEL-BCN via HND and LHR with BA
We're arriving on QF79 into Haneda and departing the following morning on BA8 to London and then to Barcelona ie. a 13 hour layover in Haneda...I want to check our luggage through to BCN from Melbourne so will it be possible to do this with our long overnight connection at Haneda ?
Yes, we've flown with El Al from JNB to TLV return and it was in J so better than fine...both flights ontime and service and food above average.....And to add I think you'll find the Israeli side of the Dead Sea to be much better than you might expect with canyon walks from Ein Gedi spectacular...

$400 AUD is cheap these days and well worth it if you can secure that price....currently for July 2023 over $600AUD....In any event rooms are great and you're only a few steps to D Terminal checkin so for me well worth the expense
Flew from OOL to MEL on QF yesterday and both my wife and I are WP....no priority lane and no priority call and a general free for all when boarding announced....and to top it off one of the early passengers had already taken our bin space in row 4 and row 4 was unoccupied by the time we arrived !!!
