The view or two from my "office"

Well, it ended up bucketing all morning. When we got to King Cascade at about 1230 it looked like this: By the time we left at about 1530 it looked like this: It was the biggest flow seen by one crew member who has been coming to the Kimberley for over 25 years, Amazing experience.

Heavy rain from the cyclone now easing, with almost no wind. We are located at the red dot E of Kuri Bay. It should add greatly to the waterfall at Kings Cascade that we head to in a couple of hours. 🙂

    A Kimberley coast crawl

😎😎 Still pretty warm up here and a bit of monsoon cloud this afternoon. Just finished several burns through Horizontal Falls. Now heading to overnight near Montgomery Reef to hit that in the morning. Chef is sensational. Aus/French and has worked in Michelin starred and hatted restaurants...

    A Kimberley coast crawl

We have Starlink, but I have more to do than to post live. Suffice to say that this is home for the next two weeks as we haul out of Broome.

    A Kimberley coast crawl

As I said, it needs to be done just after the wet season ends and in the dry season to fully appreciate it. I will follow up with plenty of photos, but generally I complete my TRs upon return. If they have Starlink on the boat, it may be possible to post a few pics en route, otherwise we'll be...

    A Kimberley coast crawl

Tomorrow it’s on the bird PER-BME to board a 12-pax/5-crew 67ft catamaran for a two-week voyage along the Kimberley coast to Wyndham, where we disembark for a land transfer to Kununurra to fly KNX-xBME-PER. Here’s the itinerary: The voyage is timed to coincide with the end of the wet season...

What are you worried about? - I don't think I'd get one in my own name at the moment, either... 😜

South America travel tips for Australians

For many years I included S America on my annual DONEx. It worked nicely when QF flew to SCL and LAN was in OneWorld. I've been to Chile, Argentina (both many times and top to bottom), Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru. I've now done as much as I would like and age moves...

Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Well, you'd be completely surprised, then. We ended up opening the first ten and all were incredibly sound. The 2002 Moss Wood displayed the greatest primary fruit characters and, for me, it was a toss-up between that and the 2005 Basket Press as the best. But there wasn't much in it between...
