Who is going to the USA, who has changed their travel and what will you do differently?

That’s how I read it, too. And maybe there’s some encouragement from recent developments such as many forms of tech being exempted (which will hugely benefit Apple, among others). However, the rationale for exempting iPhones etc from tariffs is that there’s no smartphone manufacturing industry...

Who is going to the USA, who has changed their travel and what will you do differently?

Maybe I’m missing something but if Delta is forced to abandon orders from foreign aeroplane manufacturers (Airbus etc) and instead place more tariff-free orders from the local manufacturer (Boeing), wouldn’t the current Administration in the USA see that as a win? Doesn’t that sum up the...

No FF seats released post 28/3 2026?

It’s been known to take up to a few weeks, but generally it’s a week or so. You just have to check back a couple of times a day, or you could follow the Milelion’s socials as per the article above.

Short Stay in Budapest - What to do

Don’t miss the “Terror House”: the former Secret Police headquarters which is now a memorial/museum. Moving, informative, and very well done. You won’t understand Hungary and Hungarians until you’ve understood their recent history….

Melbourne International Business Lounge Dungeon Food

Honest question (from someone who tries to generally avoid the Qantas ecosystem): I know that the setting of the MEL international business lounge is inferior to other Qantas international business lounges. Can the same actually be said of the food & beverages as well?

    Flying hours in a career

Welcome to AFF @Bushranger ! You won’t find a more knowledgeable group of people than on this site, so I’m sure you’ll be able to find a lot of answers to your questions! As for your specific question, we have an “Ask the Pilot” thread — maybe pose it there...

Fiji Airways / China Airlines award flights release patterns question

I don’t know the answer to your specific questions but be aware that there’s another complicating factor for that time of year: the airlines’ “Northern Summer” schedules begin on March 29. A number of airlines have not loaded the new timetable onto their systems yet, and no flights will be...

Who is going to the USA, who has changed their travel and what will you do differently?

I was very interested to read that traveller's firsthand account of the incident in the Traveller letters this morning: And I was even more interested to read the editor's note underneath the letter: It will be very interesting to learn if there are any more takers -- ie. whether this...

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

Hmm. I think we can agree that we want Virgin to succeed and that involves the airline being financially sustainable and profitable. That occasionally involves making decisions that may be unpalatable to some people. So if things like the new SC and points (earning and using) tables are what...

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

Exactly. Regardless of the fleet reconfiguration (see my amazingly subtle attempt to stay on topic there? 😁) VA rarely has better service than Qantas. What it has almost always had is better value-for-money. I fly Virgin, not Qantas, because I don't want to pay (actually can't afford to pay...)...

Virgin Australia flights to Doha now on sale

Correct me if I'm wrong but as these are VA flights (on wetleased Qatar planes), QF Gold status will be worthless on those flights? To take advantage of of QF Gold status you need to be flying on a flight with a QR flight number? Or if you book a VA flight on its QR codeshare will they...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

The interesting thing that I'm seeing is that, for awards 11-12 months out (and not including Qatar's "Flex" awards which are in plentiful supply), Velocity actually seems to have greater award availability than Privilege Club at the moment. I might be wrong (I haven't spent hours trawling...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Agreed. I'm noticing in the above discussion the argument that because Etihad has offered a superior Lounge experience, the Qatar Lounge offering is a downgrade (and therefore a cause of much righteous indignation). Just remember, though: Etihad has only been flying from Melbourne and Sydney...

    Lounge Access Help Desk

Thanks for your reply. That's what I'm asking. The Qantas website says that it's open "One hour before each Qantas operated service until last Qantas departure". Does that mean that it stays open all day, or that it closes after each Qantas departure, and re-opens one hour before the next one?

    Lounge Access Help Desk

I'm flying out of the Gold Coast on Jetstar next week on Tuesday: flying JQ415 OOL-SYD departing 2:25pm. I'm wondering whether it's worth linking a Qantas Lounge invitation to this flight. According to Flightradar24, the nearest Qantas flights today are QF879 to MEL which departs at 2:00pm, and...

    Upcoming Award Flight Tsunami?

Look, I don't think it's impossible that there may be a short-term bump in award availability on some routes while airlines work out how to deal with the drop in passenger numbers to the USA. On the other hand, it may well result in a decrease in award availability on non-USA routes as...

    General Virgin Australia Lounge Discussion

The food at the VA lounge (and I'd also add the Qantas Club and Qantas Business Lounge in T3) has NEVER been "better" than the food available for purchase outside. It's not meant to be. But it saves me maybe hundreds of dollars per year because at least I don't need to purchase overpriced...
