    Macquarie Visa Platinum - 40,000 points for $5000 spend - $99 1st Yr Fee

I just got my second 20k points after two follow ups - my issue was a delay between applying and being approved - despite phone advice when activating the account that I would have the "current" promotions deadlines, they applied the original promotion's deadlines. They did fix it to their...

    Macquarie Visa Platinum - 40,000 points for $5000 spend - $99 1st Yr Fee

OK, called on Thursday, Qantas Club passes were in today's mail. That's a win. Still no sign of points, but at least they've done something. Pass expiry April 2015, so plenty of time to give them to someone who needs them.

    Macquarie Visa Platinum - 40,000 points for $5000 spend - $99 1st Yr Fee

Just made the "where's my points and passes call". Card activated 7th Dec, first spend not till 7th Jan (Aus Post kindly folded the card through the chip, so I actually had to ring up and order a replacement card the day it arrived, but I activated it ahead of the 13th Dec deadline for the...

Two LAX Transfer / Lounge Questions

Thanks for pointing me to that page - I'd read it, but never as far as the fine print at the bottom: ~ Except for the oneworld lounge at Tom Bradley International Terminal, where Qantas members are allowed two children up to 18 years of age. Bingo - If refused guest and two kids at AA in T4...

Two LAX Transfer / Lounge Questions

I'm starting to figure out the differences - but I don't think I've seen anyone put it so clearly :) Thanks.

Two LAX Transfer / Lounge Questions

Thanks, Oz, I hadn't thought of calling QF to get seating pre-allocated for free - I'll give it a go.

Two LAX Transfer / Lounge Questions

Hi All, long time lurker, rare poster. I'm transiting LAX twice in JAN with my family. I'm WP/OWE, they no status. I'm booked MEL-LAX in J through work, they Y. Arriving LAX on QF93 6:40 departing 9:10 LAX - ASE (this is the only flight each day to ASE on a OW airline). Family is booked...

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! A bunch of questions - I've read every page of this thread :) What is the best option for 160 (I an pretty sure I will need 155) SCs out of MEL between now and Oct 31? I am likely to earn 150 to 210 SCs on regular flights, and need 95 to 155 SCs...

Leaving Helsinki airport on long transit - check through luggage?

Well it's been a three months today since my day trip to Helsinki. Checking through baggage was no problem. We got a locker for around 5 euro that fitted all of our carry on bags as well (lowest level in the airport building - after you clear customs if you've come from a non-schengen port)...

Leaving Helsinki airport on long transit - check through luggage?

This is very much a noob question, and the answer is probably well known to all regular international travellers, but I'm not... I was flying from Rome to Hong Kong on a QF points award booking on Finnair with a two hour transit in Helsinki. The Helsinki - Hong Kong flight we were on...

Any reports on success asking for a fee waiver on CBA Diamond?

I'm in that scenario with CitiBank (fee free Silver -> Gold -> Platinum -> Signature), but not with Commbank, so hoping they value my business ($100k/pa) enough to offer a fee waiver.

Any reports on success asking for a fee waiver on CBA Diamond?

I have a CBA Diamond card that is just under a year old, upgraded from a Platinum which was taken up when there was a free for first year option. I got a fee waiver on the Platinum on it's anniversary, just before they upgraded me to Diamond. Diamond fee is due in about one month. I currently...

Have friends ever paid you to find them flights?

I find flights & fares for my family, and flights for myself for business (even though I have to book through a TA for work to comply with their travel policy, I find the flights first, then tell the TA what to book). As other posters have noted, it's all about making the entire process smooth...

    BOSE QC15 problem

I use passive (noise isolation) in-ear earphones, and have noticed this when the seat volume is low, and the volume on the earphones is high. My solution is simple; turn down the volume (really just turn up the attenuation) on the earphones, and turn up the volume on the seat. I conclude that...

    Significant changes to Upgrades

I can confirm that the web site won't let you request an upgrade for an upgradeable JASA (U) fare yet, but I called this morning just after 8am (as I'm currently a lowly Silver), and after a few minutes to check, the CSA confirmed I have a upgrade request to F. She said that that's the first U...

Citibank Qantas Rewards Program going to $2 = 1 point

Yeah, cove, I'll admit, I've done that too, in the past. 5,000 points is better than a kick in the teeth, but is it worth the hassle of signing up for the card, then cancelling it down the track? I'm not convinced. However, last year I signed the Mrs up for a CitiBank platinum in her name for...

Citibank Qantas Rewards Program going to $2 = 1 point

Thanks. I checked out the woolies T&Cs and Fees this morning (no fee for second card), and I already have a card (and have received a sign on bonus), so just need to get the second card for Mrs. Interestingly, I (primary card holder) would earn points for the spend on the card, but the Mrs...

Citibank Qantas Rewards Program going to $2 = 1 point

True, I was thinking more of ongoing costs - $89 per year after the first (assuming no fee waiver) vs $49 for direct earn (first year, and every year thereafter). In fact, for two years, EDR is cheaper ($89 after the first year through to the end of the second) vs Citi 2 x $49 = $98. But...

Citibank Qantas Rewards Program going to $2 = 1 point

I've figured that, even without a fee waive from the Woolworths rewards card, the fee for 1:1 earn with them is only $40 more than a free Citibank card (because Citibank charge $49 per year). This is the nail in the coffin for Citibank for me - won't be keeping the free card, because won't be...
