Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

How QF chooses to treat the self-entitled behind closed doors is up to them, but once you're in their public venues, be it in a lounge or on a plane, then I'm afraid anyone in a class of service deserves to be offered exactly the same service levels and priority etc.

Have QF really cut back classic domestic awards or is it just me?

As LTG I was looking for a day trip to Sydney about a week out in mid November. I was offered the first flight of the day up and nothing back. Given we're talking about the prime bundle of rights flights consolidation corridor where there's nearly always more flights than people, I'm going for...

    LHR-PER-SYD with a 737 for the connecting PER-SYD

Since QF has now turned QF9/10 into a PER-LHR flight I'd definitely go with plan B. Even though there are A330s on PER-SYD there are no guarantees they will stick on any given flight.

    NBN Discussion

We always used our (company) phones for tethering - saved wasting money on additional equipment and accounts. Unless you're streaming 4K you really don't need much bandwidth for movies, it's a fallacy pushed by NBN that mixes up bandwidth with data volume - that's why everyone has more data than...

And you can't attribute the cost to wastage because by all counts you're unlikely to be able to have the meal of your choice due to a lack of stock on board

Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

I've lost the reference but another site I came across suggested that between maintenance and refurbs active QF A380s are few in number at the moment.

    NBN Discussion

Whilst we do have a generator too I just bought a $99 Ryobi one+ inverter as a backup power option. Happily runs a standard lamp and/or Internet boxes for many hours without the noise.

    Medicare now needs bank details!

My issue is what's the lock back for the provider? They used to charge the extra and claim the rebate, what's the extra that's in it for them in not just charging their extra to you and claiming the Medicare fee directly? Or can't they do that any more? I agree I'm happy to take the points but...

    Emirates Restores Melbourne-Singapore Connection

There is an element of sense in that but that is based on the assumption that simply matching/copying/ just beating the competition is all that is required. What they actually need is a QF executive/ board that can think independently and set is own standard for service delivery that can satisfy...

AFF Review: Qantas A330 Economy (SYD-SIN)

The reviewer noted the aircraft had been sitting in Sydney for many hours. It wouldn't take much to have someone vacuum seats and wipe down surfaces during such down time - ready for the next flight. QFs A380 toilets were encrusted in dust that had absorbed who knows what a decade ago. This is...

Is this the new norm? [Qantaslink Cabin crew won't ask passengers not to recline during meal service]

I suspect that's a little to much an altruistic interpretation. Some percentage may have that thought, but I suspect most simply don't feel the urge to recline on the short day time flight.

Is this the new norm? [Qantaslink Cabin crew won't ask passengers not to recline during meal service]

It won't make any difference. The recline of your own seat will increase the space to your own tray table but the position of your tray table is constant irrespective of what the person in front does.

Qantas Neighbour Free seating: Worth paying for?

They did have to move from their originally selected seat to get the neighbour free seat.

Qantas Neighbour Free seating: Worth paying for?

I don't disagree but it just goes to reinforce that it is a cough product. I've selected a seat, I get offered to be "neighbour free". I don't expect to move. I'd actually like the product that asked me to choose a neighbour free seat at booking time and for it to guaranteed. Why do QF (and...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

It seems to be a Qantas J thing. I don't know why they think anyone wants dinner to take so long, no matter how long the flight. I assumed perhaps they have to wait for Neil's weeds to grow before they can be served. It takes so long I've more than once asked if they've forgotten my meal.

Optus Outage - How is it affecting you?

We have retained "old" Optus plans because they are not rate limited and still have more data than we use. I did a speed test on 5G the other day and got >600Mbps. However I'm now switching to Boost to give us the diversity (Mrs D will stay on Optus) but it still offers a rate cap off 150Mbps...
