Ability to redeem on SQ is less important to me than ability to earn. SQ status earn is pretty key to my ability to retain Plat status.

Hopefully a temporary cutback due to Covid and limited international travel. Velocity benefits on DL and SQ made up for the lack of alliance and various other shortcomings in the program.

Flew LST-MEL on Monday, no hot option offered but a reasonably tasty pumpkin and prosciutto salad was available. Wouldn’t typically go for a salad but given the short flight length I was happy with this, only downside was a warm beer.

I believe it's a system limitation of the website and not a restriction per se. I was able to upgrade a flight booked with future flight credits (getaway fare) over the phone last week, no hassles.

Had the snack box on LST-MEL earlier this week, was a fine if slightly odd collection of items. Did seem like four “complimentary snack” items of old all grouped together. Not sure I’d be too keen on this approach long-term, though given VA is going for a value-focused product perhaps something...

I'd take Aussie Southwest over Aussie United or Aussie Spirit any day of the week.

Have always said I’ll wait and see how everything shakes out but Velocity is looking less and less worthwhile in the medium term. If lounges, upgrades, redemptions etc are thinning then there’s really little point remaining loyal, better to switch over to QF.

I believe Bain have stated they intend to honour these going forward, so expect they'll likely be rolled into Travel Bank or something similar.

I contacted Velocity today to cancel a few redemptions I have on DL. No wait for the call centre, guy took down my references and said they were in the queue, expect to see refunds in 3 weeks or so. I asked him to check on some VA redemptions I'd previously cancelled online and it turned out...

I don't think we'll know until a new owner is confirmed. If VA returns as domestic only it would make sense for the new management to try and continue the various partnerships as it adds substantial value for frequent flyers, as well as the obvious codeshare sales.

Rough for the employees, even if VA were not in administration they would likely be shedding a substantial number of staff given the current operating environment. QF will be doing the same no doubt, at least over the coming 12-18 months demand for air travel will not warrant maintaining 100% of...

Even in administration the incompetence shines, VA have canceled the SYD-LAX leg of an upcoming trip leaving me with MEL-SYD, LAX-BNE-MEL. No communication either, only noticed when I logged into my account. Fools.

Anyone able to share recent experience of award booking cancellations? I've managed to cancel a couple using the online form and the bookings are showing as cancelled, will be surprised if the booking fee is refunded but should I expect the points to land back in my account?
