JASA or U Class after 1st July

Thank you, yes Red Roo says that you will earn (for U class MASA) as per the "new rules" after 1st of July ( for bookings made between now and 30th June) , only problem is that U class is not listed as one of the classes that earn points or SC after 1st July, so in effect he could be saying that...

Is there a point to Best Price Guarantee?

Booked a night yesterday at Holiday Inn Santiago Airport on IHG website, prepaid US$222 plus US$42.18 IVA (our GST) and paid a total of US$264.18 and then found on booking.com same room for the US$222 and the note that no taxes were payable as a tourist staying under 59 days. Put in a claim to...

changing a classic award to a MASA

Maybe I would do this differently, I would book the MASA first, and once confirmed, I would then cancel the classic award, that way you avoid the possibility of losing a seat on the flight that you want.

Interesting comments from Ken1, re the baggage limits, I also are going SYD- SCL in 10 days or so on the QF direct and then with a LAN to George Newberry after a short transit in SCL, overnight BA and then on a LAN charter to USH before boarding Silver Explorer for 11 nights ( I think) for...

Amusing or Interesting Reasons for a Delayed Flight Departure

Not quite in the same "theme" but an amusing reason I was given in Hobart about 25 years ago, why I could not board, when I could still see the aircraft outside was "they have already pressurised the aircraft". I could hardly contain myself (but I still did not get boarded)

Changing to a non-stop flight on the day (Y-class sale fare)

Recently a family member was arriving SYD from SCL on QF direct, with a transit in SYD and next morning down to MEL, MEL was a stopover on a OW 35,000 trip and then had a SEPERATE paid ticket to Adelaide from Melbourne. ( to restart journey again later from MEL) Asked about being put on DIRECT...

    SC on voluntary re route?

Thanks JohnK, It was a bit academic on my part as Mrs Burnt tried to get direct from Perth to Brisbane without going via Melb but the direct to Brisbane was already full, she did however score an invitation from the QF lounge staff to visit the Perth CL ( which she accepted) .

    SC on voluntary re route?

Mrs Burnt has a 3 sector ASA(U class) from the West to BNE, if she asks at check in if she was able to get home on other flights in only 2 sectors (still in bus.), would she be credited with SC as per original booking? note this is a voluntary re route.

Travel insurance - optional or essential?

Cant see how this would effect any rebate, your rebate is calculated on your adjusted taxable income for the financial year, ie in this way if you a financial year ending shortly and your adjusted taxable income in quite low ( and you qualify for max rebate) BUT in the next financial year, your...

Travel insurance - optional or essential?

Please don't forget that most of Australian Health Insurance companies, have a facility that allows you to SUSPEND your private insurance at home, whilst you are away OS,(as you are not covered OS). Most have different minimum and maximum periods, ie a couple that I looked at had had minimum...

    Virgin snacks

Acceptance was probably a bad choice of words, I was trying to highlight the fact that VA had changed from an Aussie product, to a foreign made product made for a US company, but imported by an Aussie business. Just mindful of supporting Australian manufacturing where ever possible. Not sure if...

    Virgin snacks

Noticed a week or so ago, we were offered Weiss Bars as the "snack" on a flight, Weiss must be trying to gain a bit more market acceptance and yesterday the "snack" was POPCORNERS "the new shape of popcorn" but interestingly enough, Weiss is a (according to wikip. a privately owned AUSTRALIAN...

Incorrect redemption points for Classic Award online redemption

Just found another "difference", looking at ROK-AVV 21/8/14 on "standard " search shows ROK-BNE (QF) and BNE-AVV (JQ direct) for 12,000 plus T but when you search "Qantas & Partner Classic Awards" the result is the same flight but the cost is 17,600 plus taxes, a nearly 50% increase. and...
