So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Probably would be at least 3½ hours. At my age I need more stops than the car.

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Wow. Looked it up on wikipedia . What a shocker, considering what Tesla was building at the time. Not exactly a mobility scooter but..... I entered a trip with settings for the 35kWh standard charge and 110km/h Adelaide to Eden, NSW

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I'm not familiar with the EV Rav 4. Must be in another market. I'll select it and have a play with the planner tomorrow. I did a quick plan for my specification Kona for a similar trip but a bit shorter distance (Adelaide to Eden 1284 km) with max speed set at 115 km/h and it came up with...

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I wouldn't either for whatever vehicle you have entered into the planner. It wasn't a mobility scooter, was it?

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

Try mapping out trips you usually do for different EVs you may be interested in buying, using A Better Route Planner .

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

We will have had our Kona Electric for 4 years in April. It still feels good to not have to go to a service station. We ended up buying a cheapie air compressor though because it didn't seem ethical to just rock up to pump the tyres.

    Queensland State Election 2020

Regardless of Covid19 and border closures, it's only been a little over 5 years since Campbell Newman. Queensland voters may have short memories but possibly not that short.

    Scams like these

Haven't struck the reverse charge scam yet. How do they manage to enable the reverse charge?

Article: Flying first class: How can anyone afford it?

We have paid for discounted F but can't even start to consider private long haul. Just out of curiosity, I recently priced out a one-way NTL-BRS for 4 PAX and it came out north of €170,000.

    Scams like these

Has anyone else noticed a significant reduction in phone scam calls recently? I don't know if the scammers are becoming discouraged due to a reduction in the number of "bites" generally or if our landline has made it on to a sort of "don't bother calling" list because of the sort of interaction...

How many people actually fly F in their lives?

I don't know anything about F pricing in 1981. My flight was an upgrade from Y (J was just beginning to be introduced on some carriers then). I was thinking more about the comfort and catering. As I recall, the seats reclined a fair bit but not flat. Legroom in F seemed adequate and the booze...

How many people actually fly F in their lives?

My first ever F flight on 2 January 1981 as a result of a complimentary upgrade on a PanAM 747SP upper deck SYD-LAX was probably equivalent to Air New Zealand Premium Economy today in a lot of ways.

How many people actually fly F in their lives?

Cost becomes less of an issue the closer a person approaches to the end of their days. Hopefully, I still have quite a few days yet to expend because the paid F I used SYD-LHR-SYD this year was discounted (A).

"Excuse me Sir, You've tested Positive for explosives."

I had a positive test in August 2013 when returning from the SIN lounge crawl. My experience was described in post #323 in the thread SIN lounge crawl 24 Aug 2013 at the time so I won't repeat it here.

    Chauffeur Drive

(Edit : Removed unneeded quote) Our experience has been that CD has been very flexible with both pick-up and drop-off. On a recent round trip to LHR from SYD, we nominated our pick-up from Central station grand concourse (we live a fair bit more than 40 km from SYD) for the Emirates codeshare...

Wind Generation and the Electricity Grid

There is a place for any generating technology providing it works, is cost effective, risks can be managed and funds to provide for any decommissioning costs can be set aside during the service life of the plant. A nuke or two would provide helpful rotating inertia and voltage control to the system.

Wind Generation and the Electricity Grid

Have seen some white noise in the media about the possibility of keeping the Liddell coal-fired steam plant generating past 2022. I think most people would prefer to see plant retired before the service life has expended than become aware that it has when a major steam pipe ruptures and waves...

    Car Rental Excess Insurance

Well I have just concluded the two week rental in the UK which had prompted me to make the original post. I took out the annual insurance with iCarhireinsurance but, thankfully, I am unable to provide any information to the thread on claims experience because despite the usual near misses one...
