Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

It appears that Didi can do dropoffs but not pickups. The Airport needs a bus of some sort. I see the local MP is looking into that but who knows how long. The airport parking fees are not great for locals, at least Melbourne still has $14 per day. I see most walking down that long airport...

    JQ Price Beat Guarantee

I do miss the old old Tiger days with the price beat, especially when TT wasn’t that popular and they had nice low fares during most peak periods and days. Especially the old ‘taxes only’ fares they had on promos.

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

Do you prefer Didi or Uber in Cairns (for drivers)? I’ve never had any luck with Didi even though I see cars on the map.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

I do expect a Covid like surge for the Euro summer if this conflict is someone heading for the exit next month. QF would be wise to up its Perth to Europe schedule if they can source capacity.

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Are Australian drivers capable of driving at such speeds? Some of the nonsense I regularly see on the roads that are 100 is bad enough. The issue with 120/130 in Oz is I know most will sit 5-10 below the limit which is annoying.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

I mean, if you are not needed to arrive on that exact date and time if schedules change last minute, then I would probably chance it, if I had flexibility. I’d have a look at what EY is planning in the comms they put out and see what is actually moving, try to work out if they are getting...

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

I want to go Airport to Smithfield Shopping Centre weekdays around 3pm, Uber estimates are only quoting $30 pool or $40 solo. Am I simply dreaming with these rates and they will simply just cancel?

Jeju Air Flight 2216 Crashes in South Korea

We have see untidy reports across many parts of Asia. You sort of just never expect any final conclusion to ever come out.

    Looming Jet Fuel Shortages?

QF has significant financial commitments due in the coming years. A year or two of deflated earnings (oil aftermath) if it drags on won’t be kind.

McKinsey & Co article on the economics of an airline flight.

I think the cost benefits around outsourcing everything is slowing diminishing. Airlines globally are facing cost pressures from all corners, we are seeing many put the investment back into in house engineering, and also with new labour laws rolling in across many nations, the cost advantage of...

    Virgin Australia lounge in Cairns

They must want a premium on the rent front. No doubt VA attempted to renegotiate post collapse but no dice.

News still in the early stages but a USAF KC135 is apparently down.

VA flight misses SYD curfew, returns to HBA

Does curfew start at when the aircraft is cleared to land or when the gear touches the runway? I recall for departures as long as you request pushback by 22.59 you are safe. I’ve had that before, we pushed at 22.59 then sat for 10 minutes while the crew kept doing what they needed to do...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

I wonder if we might see a delay to kickoff while airlines deal with cost hikes due to all these global events. Might not be the time to launch what is normally unprofitable operations initially.

    Qantas adds OOL-AKL and SYD-AKL-APW

Sounds about right. I know QF do 10-12 hour layovers across many of its overnights (especially on the Dash fleet) but I feel that these tight layovers are not great for the crew. Virgin seem to run off a longer layover multi trip policy.

    Qantas adds OOL-AKL and SYD-AKL-APW

Strange as the prior schedule allowed for what appears to be a 12hr crew layover. New schedule would leave crew with a multi day stay.

Do they still keep the last row on Bali flights for crew rest?

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

19% unhedged it seems. Looks like Virgin is in a good spot. Qantas will certainly have the ability to pull higher revenue from International ops and they are actively chasing capacity in the coming months. Some details from the AFR just now.
