Bit of overtime today no doubt for a few engineers!

Jetstar wants to fly to the Philippines

Seat Map look relatively full ish, the Brisbane to Cebu flight seems to be full for next month, most flights left are $1k each way, I think that one will do well.

    Ask The Pilot

AV, I’ve noticed Alliance backtrack all runways when operating, even for small flights on long runways, no intersection departures like a similar VA or JQ flight did, any ideas why they do this?

    Jetstar outage

I would imagine it won’t takes weeks, they don’t have a huge fleet on a scale compared to others, I would expect engineers to get around most of the fleet this weekend. Looking at what’s in the air now they have already done a huge chunk already.

EASA emergency airworthiness directive for A319/320/321 fleet 28Nov 2025. Immediate Grounding for many

Network has a very old fleet so perhaps it’s also related to age, ie older aircraft didn’t get that specific problematic update for whatever reason?

Jetstar have said engineers need the aircraft for 1-2 hours.

    Alan Joyce writing a memoir

The target demographic here would be rather small. I mean, he would probably have a group inside QF that would buy it, some curious employees and those who side with him. Outside of that, perhaps some rusted on QF loyalists, and some Baby Boomers. Probably a few hundred copies but certainly...

    QantasLink Airbus A220 Discussion

Any word yet on when these aircraft will hit BNE-CNS/TSV/MKY? Alliance is always late these days it’s beyond a joke.

    Alan Joyce writing a memoir

That’s what I think is the whole purpose. He is trying to advertise himself to potential boards. I wonder if he will talk about why he intentionally participated in illegal behaviour. As far as I see he is a corporate criminal.

    Alan Joyce writing a memoir

I guess Jayne Hrdlicka is another. Probably pulled up to $100m in her time at Virgin, not to mention millions before that job, and now is going to run Dan Murphys. Now if I had a few hundred million, you know you only live once, spend that last 30-40 years living life.

If you have refundable travel booked in the future be it hotels or car hire etc, worth having a look re pricing, some of my bookings have dropped in price for the Black Friday period.

    Car Rental Tips

They do. Especially the older non frequently traveled. My old folks booked a car hire for the exact same place for a week was like $1500. I naturally had a heart attack, canceled it, added a promo code and cut $1000 off.

Crazy Expensive Xmas Direct fares to Japan

Not only peak season, but there is a surge in interest for Japan at the moment, not sure how much longer that will go on for but it’s biting pricing in peak. I think half the office has been to Japan in the last year or two. Cycle back last decade it was nobody. If you can get positioned to SIN...

    Best Hotel you have stayed!!!

Mt Mulligan Lodge (few hundred km west of Cairns) . Helicopter flew in from Cairns Airport. Got it on a post Covid deal, price is many times that now. Met some new friends there which was a plus. One of those luxury outback resorts you could say. Probably a standout experience in our life to...

Virgin Australia Boeing 737 Max 8

The only real notable differences is bigger (and lower- watch your head) overhead bins, engine noise is different, and that new plane smell. You will only really notice the difference when flying a non BSI/Old Seats 737. That’s when you appreciate the new kit. The old old 737s have those tube...

Will be interesting to see reliability even after such maintenance, from little activity for such a duration.
