Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

These aircraft that have entered service have had a pretty patchy week, certainly didn’t get any major maintenance before entering service when looking at the downtime. Continued delays on one, another got stuck in Busselton, ferried back empty to Perth.

Flixbus One Way $9.99 Promo Fares (Melbourne, Albury, Canberra, Sydney)

Good for competition which is probably a bit stale here in terms of bus, don’t get me started on rail.

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Well they certainly will over hype this one, it’s a -1000 with an extra tank, it’s not the new space shuttle. Expect a monthly drip feed until launch to keep the free press going.

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Now will they get the interior and all the bells and whistles correct on the first go this time!

    Jetstar announces MCY-DPS-SIN

Indonesian based carriers have somewhat struggled with the brand recognition on this end to make any success out of service. Batik has built up a profile now, Air Asia Indonesia should have been a dominant player to the East Coast but failed miserably with the A330s. I think QZ will do well if...

    Jetstar announces MCY-DPS-SIN

Townsville to Bali? Avalon to Bali would be another one if they had not been tied to the capital bilaterals. They have a new International terminal just sitting idle, what a waste of money. Perhaps they should try and change that.

Skytrans to Operate Lord Howe Island Route from March 2026 - Take over from Qantaslink

Apparently they have a shortage of Sydney Captains, I see they have a job ad on seek also, so let’s hope they don’t run into schedule issues.

    Jetstar announces MCY-DPS-SIN

I can confirm that is the case. I took the JQ flight between SIN and DPS last year and it was an odd experience, Aussie Jetstar Pilots, Asian Crew, and pretty much all Euro passengers. The Cabin Manager was Aussie which was different, I assume was training somebody or covering sick.

Jetstar launches Various Routes for CNS/CHC/MCY/AKL/DUD/HZL/SYD/OOL

With a direct non stop, I’m not sure if the A321N is doable with a full load and cargo, MEL-SIN, but a 321XLR should be, and with Business being installed, it’s almost certain the route will end up with that aircraft. I remember the days when Tiger ran a MEL-DRW-SIN connecting TT and TR.

UPS MD11 crash on take-off in Kentucky

Another view. Wasn’t really much in the way of ground clearance on the extended centreline to put her down. I guess that raises another question, should all airports have an extended clear way on runway heading? Most are now littered with industrial estates or shopping centres.

Jetstar launches Various Routes for CNS/CHC/MCY/AKL/DUD/HZL/SYD/OOL

Can they do something like MEL/PER-SIN-BKK etc? I was just thinking some of the key 3K routes that they might want to tap into. SIN-DPS/BKK are two key routes.

    Jetstar announces MCY-DPS-SIN

SIN-DPS is a busy route and was probably one of the better 3K performers so likely a good move as they try and catch that SEQ market to Bali and the already established Jetstar traffic between SIN to DPS

VA wifi trial Nov 2025 - free messaging

I think if they want to market themselves as middle market they need to start to differentiate more from being what I see them as, which is a low cost carrier.

UPS MD11 crash on take-off in Kentucky

For the Pilots, in such circumstances, do you get a fire warning, or would it be safe to assume crew might not be aware a wing/engine is on fire behind them unless one looks back?

    Virgin are losing the plot.

Probably the case, especially in peak. Tropics/Cairns is low season in the southern peak so makes sense using aircraft during day in peak southern routes then the red eye for wet season once all the aircraft return to base. ADL-CNS seems to have been pulled not sure if this one is normally...

AirAsia X will fly to Nairobi

AirAsia has never really made much in the way of earnings and they have a very high amount of aircraft on order. It’s a common theme seen in Asia with Lion Group, Vietjet, AirAsia all ordering large amounts of equipment but don’t have the finances to back them. The only operator that has been...

AirAsia X will fly to Nairobi

Seems like AirAsia wants out of the A330 fleet this decade, or reading into his comments, seems like when the leases end. I guess the Aussie routes can be done with the 321XLR. Further to the point that Long Haul/Low Cost doesn’t work, especially in regions that have low incomes. Jetstar here...

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

They need to just cancel the route completely, it’s a token route now without 3K and it’s just become a joke. It will free up an aircraft considerably, Scoot dominate the low cost traffic on that route now. Otherwise just run it A321N directly.

    Virgin are losing the plot.

They have some new weird flights in the summer schedule. What is with this Melbourne to Cairns red eye flight. Not bad for say Cairns locals who want the day in Melbourne.

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

It appears SYD-ICN has also been cancelled for the last four days. Nasty. It looks like the two grounded aircraft from last week are now back this week, but they now have another one stuck in ICN from earlier this week. Seems to be one after the other. Get them operational again then another...
