+1 for Doubletree Taipei Zhongshan. We stayed there last year and had a great time. Brilliant location, easy to access rail lines, night markets etc. Staff we great. Breakfast was simple but good. I'd stay there again. The airport Accor has left (or is about to leave) Accor so check carefully...

In my experience SQ is excellent with "baggage irregularities". On a flight SYD-SIN-SGN my bag was delayed and arrived on a later flight. When I went to the desk at SGN luggage claim they just gave me a very generous amount of local cash and the bag arrived a few hours later at my hotel.

I might do that for a first class flight (smaller cabin etc) as part of the same trip, but I doubt we'll be able to fit another thing in, but the staff might enjoy it.
